I got UConn beating Purdue by double digits tonight. I don’t trust Purdue guards to be that consistent.

I picked Perdue.  Mainly to support a friend of mine who graduated from Perdue.

I'm just gonna savor seeing the clash of the big men tonight.  Centers (like Shaq, not Wemby) have usually been my favorite players.

  2. Caitlin Clark is the darling of traditional America.  If she were on Gilligan's Island, she'd be Mary Ann.

We recently saw this same sort of scenario (contrast between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese) with Taylor Swift and Simone Biles.  Both beautiful, famous, and great at what they do, with NFL-starter boyfriends...yet Swift was over-hyped at NFL games while Biles was an afterthought.  Don't get me wrong - I'm not interested in seeing either of them hyped at an NFL game, but I notice the difference when one is over-hyped, while the other is not hyped at all.

It’s pretty much just a name. As far as who they really want, it’s Hurley and Oats and they’ll fall back on Scott Drew

Sure hope so.  Don't want to lose Bruce.

Maybe it has something to do with what appears that we have one play with 3 variations.

Probably what Thorne was referring to this week when he said the coaches "simplified things".

Sounds like we're in for another 6-win season.

  5. As someone said earlier in this thread, it appeared that Holloway was given a lot of playing time he did not earn this year.  I imagine that Tre noticed as well.

It was very telling that against Yale, Holloway was so ineffective that he was pretty much an afterthought.  He didn't seem to improve much during the season, although he showed glimpses of improvement in January (IIRC).

In my opinion, which means nothing, he is at best a project with no guarantee of return on investment.  A lot of his shortcomings were based upon his size and strength (or lack thereof), and not much can be done about that, relatively speaking.  He isn't going to significantly transform his body no matter how much time he spends in the weight room.

This is why if given the choice between the two, I'd pick Tre to stay and Holloway to leave.  Tre isn't great but at least he hits threes, and I don't think Holloway is going to reach his projected potential, or anywhere near it.  Just my opinion.

Curious what Barkley's opinion is on this as Tre was his favorite player from this team.  Could be that Tre didn't like playing behind Holloway and he has an argument to make, IMO.  He made great progress this year but has he reached his maximum potential?  Could he get much better than he is now?

Keep in mind that players often don't get the type of portal offers they want and end up changing their minds.  Tre may be testing the waters.

In my mind, I'd like to have him back if we could get a first-rate PG to start.  Tre is a good SEC PG, but he's a backup, at least by my estimation.  Not sure he would accept that.

  7. I like our RBs, but I think we'd all be shocked to see tape of them, followed by tape of Tre Mason and Kerryon Johnson.

We'd see that our RBs are closer to average than we might think.  But still, they are above average and would certainly benefit from a balanced attack, which we haven't had for a long time.
