Baseball vs. Samford

Recommended Posts

Being played like a serous game tonight...some of these mid week games...IMO are taken kind of lightly...but coaches and players acting like this one is important. Good pitching, solid hitting so far.

Samford's had it's way with AU lately. It's past time for some AU pride to show up. They have to be sick of losing to the Bulldogs.

True but usually these mid week games are a chance to give some younger players a shot and see if some of the young pitchers can get it done. Tonight, they are playing to win...and not just to play a bunch of the subs.

and a quick hook for the pitcher again tonight....

Dad just text and said they are in a lightning delay in the B7. Still 8-4 AU with Yarborough on the mound now.

lightning delay..game stopped....waiting at least 30 minutes....or they might just call the game radar shows activity. Apparently been raining in the B'ham area most of the day.. evening ..UAB-Bama game either delayed or cancelled because of bad weather but somehow they managed to get 7 innings done here which is an "official" game if they are unable to go back to play.

going to bottom of the 8th with AU up 8-4...

letting Samford back in the game with a hit and a walk...on 4 pitches......time to bring in Justin Camp and shut this stuff down. Got a nice lead and no point in giving it away.

That 3d out again....seems we have problems closing out an inning....or a game.

Kevin Davis is yanked after 4 pitches. Poor kid. I feel bad for him.

Now AU has moved on to the closer Justin Camp.

Justin seems to be effective as a closer. I'm happy to see him having some success.

Nice work and nice win to bridge the two SEC series. Let's BBQ the Hogs.

Was fun to be at an AU game again. We just moved to the Birmingham area this weekend so I was happy to see AU was playing down the road at Samford. Hated the drizzle for 5 innings and as soon as we packed up our chairs, it stopped. Oh well. Good to get that win on the road too.

Good win. The upcoming series with Arkansas is one we need to at least win, if not sweep.

Arkansas is as "gettable" as they've been in a long time. Lost to Missouri State 2-0 last night. 14-14 overall.

Hopefully Ebert can find his stroke from '14 (even if only close). Deese contributing is a huge plus, and there was a time that Logan looked like he was going to catch fire. If they can get the offense clicking on all cylinders, an occasional sweep is not too much to expect.
