Jenny AU-92 0
Flatulence not a crime: courtFrom AAP A MAN who broke wind in the foyer of a Melbourne police station has had his conviction for offensive behaviour overturned. David Paul Grixti had been fined $200 by the Werribee Magistrates' Court in June for breaking wind in the station after being arrested for drinking offences. Werribee Legal Service appealed the decision to the Victorian County Court, which has found him not guilty. The service's manager, Sally Smith, says the prosecution couldn't establish that flatulence was a voluntary act. She criticised police for taking action against Mr Grixti, saying it was absurd that a natural bodily function was criminalised. Link
