Auburn softball’s NCAA Tournament elimination matchup vs. Chattanooga in weather delay

Published: May. 18, 2024, 11:28 a.m.

~2 minutes

Auburn softball’s elimination matchup against Chattanooga in the NCAA Tournament’s Tallahassee Regional has been delayed due to inclement weather in Tallahassee area, the program announced Saturday morning.

The Tigers were scheduled to take on the Mocs at 2:30 p.m. CT, but are now slated for a 6:30 p.m. start from Florida State’s JoAnn Graf Field. The actual start time of Auburn-Chattanooga is set for 35 minutes after the conclusion of UCF-Florida State, which is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Auburn’s matchup with Chattanooga will be televised on ESPN+.

When Auburn and Chattanooga take the field this evening, both teams will be facing elimination after losing their regional openers on Friday. While Auburn lost to UCF 11-6 Friday afternoon, Chattanooga was downed by 15th-seeded Florida State as the Seminoles scored three runs across the fifth and sixth innings to erase the Mocs’ two-run lead.

While the loser of Saturday evening’s matchup will see its 2024 campaign come to a close, the winner will see the loser of UCF-Florida State late Saturday night at a time to be determined.
