Real Dain Bramage from McDermott

This guy is an embarassment to the US . That anyone this paranoid can stay an elected official is scary. He is the Democratic version of John Birch.

Hello. I'm Jim McDermott, a Democrat, representing 7th Congressional District residents in the U. S. House of Representatives.

I am a physician by training and I am especially troubled by our system's failure to provide adequate health care to everyone. In fact, the number of working families who are underinsured or uninsured continues to rise. We must move this nation to a universal health care system.

I truly pity anyone this nut case ever had under his care.

I heard about this on the way into work. I knew some nutty liberal was going to say this, I just wasn't sure who since the people of Georgia grew a brain and dumped Cynthia "A Screw Loose" McKinney.

Congratulations Jim McDermott for winning Liberal Nutjob of the Year. It's a well-deserved title and I'm sure you'll live up to it splendidly.

Jim McDermott is a Libertarian-Leaning Liberal. Click here for explanation.

Ok I'll bite. What the heck is a libertarian leaning liberal.

Look up "oxymoron." That statement is an oxymoron.

Libertarians are traditionally the rightist of the right.

Liberals, like McDermott are left of left. How can you be left of left and right of right?

Maybe he is bending the circle around again.

Not so fast my friend. They tend to be very fiscally conservative but on social issues are generally more liberal than Republicans, especially where it concerns drug laws.

Looking at his record I would say he is even left of Dean.

What has Dean said or done that makes you think he's so far to the left?

Even other democrats are bashing him. What really confuses me is that he thinks it is suspicious because everything has been going bad for the administration lately. Um, what has been going bad lately? The economy is getting better and jobless claims are declining. Can somebody tell me what he meant by this? Really tells me he is not living on planet Earth apparently. Somebody needs to bring him back to reality.

Too late to bring him back to Earth -- his mind is wandering in the ether.

You ought to hear half of what he says up here. Only his most outrageous statements make national news. One time he was speaking to a local high school and was trying to demonize the Bush Administration (typ Dem tactic) by scaring them that their personal rights & liberties are being taken away through the Patriot Act. He actually said, "it's like the school administration coming down the halls and opening your locker without permission and finding drugs in there ... " I'm serious, he didn't even realize he had just insulted all of the students. The man is clueless. Oh, and I'm sure it's not surprising to know that this physician (psychiatrist) has touted the Canadian Health system as the model for the US to follow. Honestly, I truly think he experimented with too many drugs back in the '60s, Timothy Leary-style.

He has some liberal views, but many of these knocks can't be distinctly Democratic's concepts, can they? Support for small business, new crime programs, etc.

But, this is the strange thing...the website that provided all the info has Dean listed as 'Hard Core Liberal" while listing Braun and Sharpton as "Moderate Liberal." If you look at their diamond charts, though, the dot for all three is in the same spot, one tic line into the liberal territory. Kerry also was on the same spot.

So why do they label Dean as "Hard Core Liberal" when the other candidates in the same exact spot are labeled "Moderate Liberal"?

I have absolutely no idea why they list people the way they do. But that would be a great project for you young man, contact the owners of the web site and get an answer from them. :D

it's gotta be that vast right-wing conspiracy thing again....

TA, are you suggesting that dean be moved out of HARD CORE classification or suggesting that the other two should be labeled HARD CORE instead of Moderate?

I'm saying, according to their graph, I'd expect to see someone listed as a hard core liberal to be a few more tics to the left. As it is, he's only listed by the graph as one tic line into the liberal area.

But, as I've said before, I think he's a bit more centrist than people think, if you look at the whole instead of just saying he's for civil unions so he's a hard core liberal.

i agree w/ you, TA...i don't think he's as 'out there' as some others are...

i still think that, if a dem has to win the next election, i hope it's JOE L, then maybe DEAN.

dean's problem is that he talks too much...if his handlers could somehow keep him from talking, he'd do a lot better.
