BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux has been suspended from the football team indefinitely after he was cited for trying to illegally get on a riverboat casino in Baton Rouge, a university spokesman said Tuesday.

Perrilloux, 20, was issued a misdemeanor summons by police after allegedly trying to use his older brother's driving license to enter the Hollywood Casino, sports information director Michael Bonnette said.

The player was cited for one count of misrepresentation to gain access and released, said Baton Rouge Police Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said. Police were called to the casino about 5 p.m. Saturday by the boat's security guards, McKneely said.

The minimum age to board a riverboat casino in Louisiana is 21.

Bonnette said Perrilloux could return to the team at Coach Les Miles' discretion.

"The coach is going to monitor his situation," Bonnette said. "He could return, but that's certainly not definite."

Perrilloux was one of the top football recruits in the country in 2004. At the time of his suspension he was listed as the No. 2 quarterback by LSU behind Matt Flynn.

Perrilloux could not be reached for comment Tuesday. Directory assistance did not have a listed telephone number for him.

:o Wow, you have all that talent and you go do something to nearly Ruin it. Wow, just wow. Now with Matt Flynn, didn't he have shoulder surgery this past spring? Was it his throwing shoulder? Who is their third and fourth string QB?

this guy shouldnt be suspended for this. who cares if he wants to get on a riverboat and blow his money. its ridiculous that you have to be 21 to blow your own money anyway. im sure this will get blown out of proportion but the fact is he is just being a 19-20 year old kid and what he did couldnt have hurt anyone but himself.

I just bet Coach Miles' discretion will be before football season starts.

Weren't a few players of the UT team suspended last summer or the summer before? Then back on the team a few weeks or months later. Suspensions in the summer mean little until practice starts. We'll see if Ryan P is still suspended come August.

I think this was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. RP has been implicated in a counterfeiting operation. I think that Miles is attempting to send a strong message, and I salute him for it.

Interesting sidenote: RP and MF are the only QBs on campus until the frosh show up.

You're one of the most well known people in the city of Baton Rouge, not to mention the state of LA. and you think you are going to sneak into a casino with someone else's ID? He should be suspended for sheer stupidity.

Just because the law may be unfair or stupid doesn't mean you can just ignore it. Next time you get a speeding ticket on a deserted stretch of road that has a 35 mph speed limit try to use that argument. Let me know how that works out for you.

RP has been in the doghouse almost from Day One. I support CLM in this. RP came in TELLING everyone that he should and would be starting ahead of Russell. He was a cancer on the team. Heck, this may be addition by subtraction for :lsu:

Appears to me that Mr. Perrilloux has quite the gambling problem. The counterfeit cash and credit cards were rumored involve gambling as well. Ryan Perrilloux = Art Schlichter.....

Miles knew when Perriloux was at East St. John High School this boy was in the wrong crowd.

Whether he is thrown off the team is up to the LSU Board.

What a waste of talent and another thorn in the LSU program.
