The 15 uncommitted Senate superdelegates are meeting this afternoon to discuss how to proceed on making their endorsements and are likely to back Sen. Barack Obama in the next couple of days, sources tell Politico.

The senators are not meeting with representatives from either campaign during the gathering, the sources say.

peacefully or ... what? is that a threat? :poke::P

yeah, she should drop out. if she wants to make the least noise about having to finally bow out of the race and admit defeat, she should make her withdrawal speech late afternoon on friday.

I would be okay with Clinton staying in as long as she keeps her attacks all at McCain. Having her around keeps the media following the democrats.

Turn out the lights....

Sources: Most uncommitted senators to endorse Obama

Most of the seventeen Democratic senators who have remained uncommitted throughout the primaries will endorse Barack Obama for president this week, CNN has learned.

Sources familiar with discussions between Obama supporters and these senators tell CNN’s Gloria Borger that the senators will wait until after the South Dakota and Montana primaries to announce their support for Obama.

Two sources familiar with the sessions said the endorsements will come sometime later this week.

Obama supporters have been “pressing” for these superdelegates to endorse earlier in the week, but according to one source, “the senators don’t want to pound Hillary Clinton, and there is a sense she should be given a grace period.”

A series of meetings on the topic have been facilitated at different times by Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle and Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin. Durbin and Daschle are Obama supporters, while Harkin is uncommitted.

According to CNN’s Candy Crowley, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will remain uncommitted until Clinton officially drops out of the race.

Talk about a dooms day scenario for the Dems. Thankfully, even she is not that stupid.

Not so fast.

"Clinton not ready to admit defeat, official tells CNN

Hillary Clinton is "absolutely" not prepared to admit Barack Obama has beaten her in the race for the Democratic nomination for president, her campaign chairman told CNN today. Terry McAuliffe rejected as "100 percent incorrect" an Associated Press report that Clinton is preparing to concede the race tonight."
