And yet he still leads in many of the national polls.

In which poll does he have statistically significant lead?

Get off your knees and respond to this post.

Gallup has McCain ahead by 1% point.

Careful with your facts...(this poll was before he clinched the nomination last night)

(CNN) – On the same day Barack Obama could clinch the Democratic nomination for president, a new poll out Tuesday shows the Illinois senator holds a slight lead over presumptive Republican nominee John McCain among likely voters nationwide.

The new USA Today/Gallup survey shows the Illinois senator with a 5 point advantage over McCain among likely voters, 49 percent to 44 percent. That margin is just outside the poll's 4 point margin of error, meaning Obama appears to hold a slight advantage over the Arizona senator with five months remaining until voters weigh in at the polls.

Gallup has McCain ahead by 1% point. I never said SIGNIFICANT, but you love to bait and switch. They are tied in Newsweek, and Obama has a 1.4% lead in the Real Clear Politics. They are tied in the Rasmussen Poll.

I am most assured that Obama will take a lead in the polls after his sermon last evening. McCain has never been a real firebreather, and I don't see him being able to match the oral attributes of pastor Obama. Obama has to run on show and speak, he cannot win a head to head on issues. He's a great speaker, no denying that. I was always ready to hear his next speech until the truth about his past came out. He will be the most polarizing person in the history of the United States if elected, because I think he is covering up his true feelings about many Americans. That's not going to make him a great leader by no means.

So basically, when you factor in the margin of error, it is more or less a dead heat. In other words, McCain is not ahead.

Can you not read??????? What does it say in the post?????? As normal, you left out the part where I stated that Obama would get a lead after last night. Once again, the party of the half truth rises up.

This cub is long in the tooth, mr.

I took this information from their website this AM!!! AND I STATED THAT IT WOULD CHANGE AFTER THE SPEECH!!!

This is why I have a hard time with liberals! You ONLY speak what you need to hear, and not the facts as they are LISTED! Liberals preach freedom from one side of their mouth, and promote programs that take away the very freedom we have. You guys are what I have been stating all along....SOCIALIST! :hail:

Liberals want to take away your freedom to not have health care, and give you the freedom to talk on un-tapped phones.

They are killing America.

Only problem is, it did not change after the speech (those new polls are not out yet)...Obama was already up 5% according to Gallup BEFORE the speech.

You better back off, Mr Al (Jk...I can take it). This information came off their site this AM. It was dated 6-2-08, but as I stated before (just so you can actually read it again and make note since you seem to be overlooking the facts), I stated that Obama would get a bump after the speech last night. It's normal, and it has been this way for decades. Michael Dukakis lead by 15% points after the nomination, and he was not able to win. I'm not saying Obama is Dukakis by no means (Obama actually has charisma), but he should be way ahead giving the "democratic trade winds" of the season.

Let them have their few moments in the sun. They'll need all the positives they can get. Soon the whole nation will focus in on just two guys. One is a war hero who has served as his own man in the senate for many years. The other an empty suit with no plans to better the nation except to make each individual more dependent on government and raise taxes on those of us who actually get out and work for a living. Robin Hood politics will be revealed.

READ THIS! I said GALLUP tracking poll, not the USA/GALLUP. Now, spin this runinred.

I will admit that I said Gallup and not Gallup tracking in the original post. It still shows that this race will be tighter than you think. You can call me all the names in the world and you can insult my intel, but you will never take away my ability to respond and fight for what I believe in.

I am washing my hands of this.

You said "many". The term "significant" means "real" when talking statistics. A "lead" within the margin of error is not a lead at all.

Great. I was hoping a change in the presidency would yield a change in attitude. Instead of calmly disagreeing with someone with logical points, we're still going down the low road of laughing at and making fun of them.

What are you talking about?

I was referring to his words, his delivery...all comical. That speech was awful/pathetic. McCain looked lethargic in front of a handful of people. He was struggling to even read the teleprompter! Fair observation, nothing low about reflecting on what I observe.

Compare and contrast what you just saw to what's about to come...

Yeah....he delivers a speech poorly...too bad because his message is dead on. He's got Obama # and if you will focus on what he says it all makes sense. He's been my candidate for 12 years because he's the least bought off major politician in DC and absolutely does what he thinks is the right thing to do without party allegience.

At first I thought Obama was really something different, but as the issues have surfaced, the inconsistencies in his message and actions have become alarming. I guess Obama will be prez. I hope I'm wrong about him.

Only until Charles Keating comes a callin.

I don't think McCain was found guilty of any wrongdoing in that. I may be wrong.

Obama has got to be the biggest phony in all of America. If you go ga-ga over all that motivational blabber, then there is nothing I can do to save you, but when you look at past actions and policies of this man, there is clearly a better man for the job.

Anybody duped by Bush twice really has no credibility critiquing others candidate choice.

Who says I was "duped" by Bush? Thanks for putting words in my mouth, chief. You're acting like Obama already!

You are correct. McCain was rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee for poor judgment and that was the extent of it.
