Justin Fradejas Named SEC Player Of The Week

Recommended Posts

Justin Fradejas has been named the SEC Player of the

Week after the junior outfielder went 9-for-19 (.474) with three

doubles, six RBI and six runs scored last week, helping Auburn to a 4-1

record and its first home series win over No. 3 LSU since 1998.

Fradejas successfully extended his hitting streak to 14 games,

collecting four multi-hit games in the process to raise his batting

average from .283 before the week started to .338 after Sunday’s win

over LSU. In the series-clincher on Sunday, Fradejas dropped down a

perfectly executed safety squeeze bunt in the bottom of the ninth to

score the game-winning run.

Entering the week with just two RBI on the year, Fradejas drove in two

in the 6-2 win over South Alabama on Wednesday and another two in

Sunday’s win.

Fradejas is the third Auburn player to be named the SEC Player of the

Week, joining Brian Fletcher (March 1) and Hunter Morris (March 22).

With the results of last week, Auburn (22-11, 7-5 SEC) has made its

2010 debut in the national polls as both Baseball America and Collegiate

Baseball have ranked Auburn No. 23 in the April 12 polls. The last time

Auburn was ranked was March 19, 2007, when it was No. 21 in the

ESPN/USAToday poll.

Auburn returns to the field on Wednesday night at 6:30pm when it plays

host to New Orleans. The game was not on the originally published

schedule but was added as a make-up for the Appalachian State game which

was rained out.

As a thank you to the Auburn students, Wednesday’s game is Student

Appreciation Night and all Auburn students that show their Auburn

Ignited card at the ticket booth will receive free admission.
