  1. There have been several stellar defensive coaches who were unable to "evolve" into the CEO role of a HC; Chizik, Muschamp, Odom come to mind. Lanning doesn't seem to be falling into that trap. Key dofference: Mario is an offensive coach. All the offenses today loook about the same, and offensive coaches are, frankly, a dime a dozen. If you look across the football landscape, you'll notice that the juggernaut programs have defensive coaches, and they have suffocating defense. What was true before the wide open, fast paced offenses is still true today: offense sells tickets, defense wins championships. Auburn should be hiring a great defensive mind, not yet another "offensive genius".
  2. Gus Malzahn is not an elite coach, probably not even a great coach. But, one thing I love about Gus is that he has said openly that his coaching position is his ministry, and believes his work with the young men extends into eternity. He coaches for the glory of the Lord, and to bring young men to know Christ. ❤️
  3. My interest in Lanning isn't based on his one season in Oregon. It's b/c of his history, his SEC pedigree, the coaches who shaped his football mind, and his defensive prowess that I think he will prove to be an elite coach.
  4. He's right. That isn't a "he's not the right coach" complaint. That's a "he's not the right kind of man to shape young men" complaint. Freeze was caught being his own pimp for gosh sakes!
  5. Have you seen the Josh Pate vid talking about the "big name" Auburn "mystery candidates"?
  6. I'm opposed to Freeze too. He's Gus, without the morals. I watched a vid of him talking to someone recently, and he was REALLY struggling to try to sound like a changed man. If I genuinely believed his heart was changed, I'd probably be inclined to argue for his redemption, but he did not seem at all sincere or convincing. Rumor has it that Cohen and Freeze do not get along, and it was actually Cohen that reported Freeze, causing him to have to resign at Ole Miss. If that's true, it seems unlikely that Cohen would hire Freeze.
  7. Agree with your assessment. Wish I knew what Josh Pate has been told! LOTS of hot garbage on this site. I'm steady watching Dan Lanning build his empire in Oregon while we debate whether Auburn will hire an 8-4 coach, or move on to a coach who got caught being his own pimp. Sigh ... 🙄
  8. Amen! Lanning is building his kingdom in Oregon! Auburn should have done whatever it took to bring that guy back to the SEC!
  9. Yes, my results proved the claim by OM Sports is TRUE. Everything they said in this tweet is true ...
  10. It is factually true. I looked all their SEC wins up, and the final conference records for each of those opponents, starting with the 2020 season. This is the results ...
  11. Ouch!! More data: Here are his average W/L for his career, and per school: school yrs w l % TN 1 7 6 0.538 USC 4 7 4 0.651 FAU 3 9 4 0.675 OM 3 8 4 0.676 Career 11 8 4 0.654
  12. Not my words .. HIS words. But 27 mins into the video doesn't make very good click bait.
  13. Thanks for the info. Josh Pate of 247 is reporting that there are big name "mystery candidates" that are interested in the job, and currently talking to Auburn. The part on Auburn starts at 27:10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI7NS28hJbU
  14. Josh Pate has questions and "intel", too! Starting at the 27:10 mark.
  15. So he's getting that plus the $13M SC paid him to go away, the $1.5M Florida paid him to go away, and the millions Auburn paid him as DC between Florida & SC. At some point, I would think money isn't necessarily an important criteria for these guys. He's a GA grad, and he could just be happy there, rolling in his cash, hanging out with the football team. 😂
