  1. Muschamp is at GA, isn't he? I'd say he's holding it down pretty well. Would he leave GA for a lateral move to come back to Auburn?
  2. I never wrote pointless; it may be your comprehension that is in need of assessment. When others respond to my posts, either negatively or positively, and I respond back to them, that is called a conversation, not droning. If you don't want me to continue to discuss the matter with you, stop responding to my posts. 🤷‍♀️
  3. No crystal ball required. Just look at the records, assess the performance, check the character - if you dare.
  4. Past is prologue. Maybe this time will be different .. but if it isn't, he won't be shown the door b/c he'll be like Jimbo - stuck in a fat contract with a giant payout.
  5. Interesting that you consider others' opinions droning pettiness, but your opinions are ... ?? If you truly don't care, please stop trying to denigrate my opinion. Just accept that we don't all agree, and that's ok. In fact, if we did all agree, it would be kinda weird.
  6. Pre-NIL, teams ('cept Bama) weren't outright buying players. The greatest programs were built by the greatest coaches, and some very saavy recruiting. Kiff averaged 7-5 to 8-4 in that raw competition. We can't depend on the temporary NIL advantage that will be eroded as other teams build their NIL funds, and "recruiting" will largely boil down to who pays the most. Spoiler alert: it'll prolly be Bama. As the NIL levels out, the greatest programs will still be built by the greatest coaches, and even more so as our competetive peers are all purchasing talent fairly equally. I haven't done any research on other schools' NIL funds. Do you have any idea how much other SEC teams have amassed?
  7. Strange that you think it petty to want Auburn to hire a substantial coach to build Auburn into a powerhouse. Hopefully the day won't come that I'm proven right. Why do different points of view unsettle you so?
  8. I think he'll get us off the bottom, maybe quicker than some other options. I just don't think he'll ever get us to the top. He doesn't build the kind of defense that is required to get to the top. Just a flashy offense isn't enough. His career average is 8-4. His best seasons in big boy football are 10 wins. At FAU he had 2 seasons with 11 wins. If it happens that he sticks at 8-10 wins a year, and Auburn foolishly locks him in at $10M for 10 yrs, or worse, we'd be mired in that mediocrity without championships for a while like TxAM is with Jimbo. Well, Jimbo may be below mediocrity at A&M. This IMO is a grave error that we would be stuck with for years. I'd much rather bring in Lanning, or another more substantial coach, and build a behemoth, even if it takes a little longer. The payoff for that patience is SO sweet ...
  9. Evidently, the poster to whom I responded thinks my opposition to Lane is "not because [I] think he is not a good coach". So, I just wanted to clarify for him that my opposition to his hire is not in fact hurt feelings. I genuinely do not think Kiffin is the guy to build Auburn into a juggernaut. If I thought that, I'd be for his hire.
  10. I'm for Auburn. Lane Kiffin isn't Auburn. If he ends up coaching at Auburn, then, just as I did with Gus, I'll hope for the best, and that he'll prove my assessment of him wrong. Gus proved my assessment correct. Kirby proved my assessment correct. Maybe this time will be different.
  11. Me too. I'm actually pleasantly surprised by what the staff has been able to do to inspire the kids and adapt to the changes. Not hopeful that we'll beat Bama, but stranger things have happened. 🙏
  12. It isn't entirely speculation. There are histories that can be referenced, particularly with Lane. Someone IS right, and time will bear out who it is. I'm not a fan of Kiffin as a person, and his history is why. I'm not a fan of this hire b/c I don't think he's a substantial coach who will take Auburn to the pinnacle, which is juggernaut status. If Auburn hires him, I hope my assessment of him as a coach, and as a man, proves out wrong.
  13. I don't operate on "feelings". I've posted the history of Lane Kiffin. If you find that documented history to be negative, take it up with him. But, don't expect me to ignore the history you find so negative, and suddenly pretend he is a great hire just so I can align with your delusion. And, for the record, no, I actually don't think Lane is a great coach.
  14. Wonder if Jeremy Johnson still thinks Gus is a genius.
  15. And yet, you felt the need to respond to my post. You are part of the mob, yes?
  16. We live in an age of the mob. Dissenting ideas are not allowed; independent thought and differing opinions are now cancelled, and only the prevailing opinion is allowed to be spoken here in the land of the free. What a sad loss for humankind that the self proclaimed majority opinion is so weak & insecure that they must summon a mob to destroy all opposing points of view. smh
  17. Pat Dye was as close as we got, and he was very close. Those were good times. There is just nothing in Kiffin's record to suggest he will suddenly become an elite coach.
  18. Thank you for so respecting my opinion about another team's coach that you believe it is powerful enough to influence a major university's football program. Again, I didn't ever say Lane won't make Auburn better. But, "better" is not the goal. If it were, we could just stop with the current staff. I said his record does not prove him an elite coach, and he will not build Auburn into a juggernaut. Evidently just "being better" is enough for the Auburn folks in 2022. I'm old school, though .. I want the juggernaut.
  19. Not according to his record. Note that I didn't say that Lanning is a proven elite coach .. not yet, anyway. What I'm saying is he has all the tools and pedigrees to prove an elite coach. There is no evidence that Kiffin will suddenly move to an elite level. Why is it so important to you that I agree with your opinion?
  20. I'm sure he learned at Bama. But, Kiffin took his flashy offense into Bama without taking on Saban's "character" as a coach.
  21. He has all the SEC creds and training to prove that out in time. He coached under Kirby at both Bama and GA, and has a great rep as a recruiter. He's building a top 10 class in Oregon, and snagging great kids out of the south! We've seen a few great defensive coaches fail at HC b/c they couldn't move from DCo to CEO .. Chizik, Muschamp several times, Barry Odom. Only time will bear his eliteness out, but Lanning has all the tools and the football mind to build the juggernaut, and he is settling into his CEO role quite well.
  22. Nope. Lanning isn't a PAC 12 coach .. he's an SEC coach who took a job in the PAC 12! His pedigree and experience are SEC under Saban & Smart. I never NEVER said it's a juggernaut .. not yet. But he's a guy who can, and I think WILL, build a juggernaut! I have no such thought nor evidence for Kiffin as a coach.
