Caddy is the desperate choice, Caddy is the emotional choice; Caddy is not the good choice, either for him or for Auburn.

We should not insist that the new coach keep Caddy. The new coach must have full autonomy over his staff, the systems he implements, and the other decisions he makes. The AD might just politely mention Caddy as someone who might get an extra look in deciding who may be retained. It would create A LOT of goodwill with the fans who love him. There are some other coaches on the staff that should get a look, too .. Zac Etheridge for one. But, in the end, the final decisions are up to the new HC.

Agree with this completely. Caddy isn't ready to be a HC, yet, and making him a HC now, especially an SEC HC, is just setting him up for disaster.

You could be absolutely right! It seemed from the beginning that the first thoroughly unfounded guess by talking heads, and the fans who were listening to them, was Kiffy. When the search failed to produce any credible leaks, the first unsupported guess continued to be the click bait the talking heads offered as the "likely hire". They needed the clicks to pay the bills, but it seems none of them really know what's happening with the search, either. A few of the talking heads, but only a very few, were honest enough to say they really didn't know who Auburn is talking to or wanting to hire.

I could see why an active campaign against Auburn would upset folks, but if Cohen hires Freeze, it's a good bet that a significant number of the Auburn people will revolt. Some things are more important than winning at football.
