Harsin has had 1&1/2 regular recruiting cycles and the better part of two portal cycles. There have been zero notable O-line additions over that time. If he was indeed left with a mess, he's either incapable of recognizing it or does recognize the mess and is incapable of correcting it.
Fans could understand being left with an alleged mess. However, failing to take corrective action leaves serious doubts about the leadership.
Yep.

If you read what some of Bo's family members said it was because the fanbase was not nice enough to him. The reality is when Bo arrived there were unrealistic expectations for him with some people talking about him winning the Heisman and leading us to National Title before he had even played a down. Those expectations are hard to live up to. Then starting as a freshman and pulling out his 1st game as a starter against a national power even though he did not have a great game fueled the fire. As the the season passed and we realized we did not have a stellar O-Line he started to have happy feet.
Sometimes he bailed and made great plays other times he bailed to soon and the play failed. A freshman where fans have unrealistic expectations and a weak O-Line causes issues. Over time the fans became inpatient. He developed bad habits because of the O-Line. Last year he looked better but anemic O-line meant we didn't have a great run game and he got a little better at staying in pocket but you could still see him bailing at times he didn't need to.
We will never know if Bo could have been a really good QB. If he had come in with a really solid O-Line that he trusted he might not have developed happy feet, he might have stayed in pocket and made better throws. There were games where BO played well hit is receivers in stride and looked like he was getting it then there were the other games.
By the end some fans were to harsh because he had not met their unrealistic expectations and he knew if he came back he would have the same O-line so like so many he assumed the grass would be greener on the other side. I think BO with a better O-line from day one would have been a good QB with a higher completion percentage but I watched him enough to know that he would never be elite. He has a good arm but not an elite arm and he has had an issue of not setting his feet when he is on the move which with his arm he would have to be able to do.
There are not many Patrick Mahomes' out there who can throw across their body while going the other way and throw a bullet on the money.
To be fair here, Bo got to AU with an entitled attitude / ego. Was a awful teammate who wasn’t liked very much in the locker room. Gus did nothing but stroke that ego with the title talk. Then Bo’s QB coach pumping him up to win hiesmans in Jordan Rogers. Perfect storm for failure.

Yep. I mean, Harsin brought in Finley last year very much hoping he could take Bo's job. Because, highlight plays and big stats accumulated over 3 seasons starting aside, Bo's not a particularly good QB.
Not sure Harsin though Finley would beat Bo out. More of, behind Bo was as bad as bad can get. Harsin tried to bring Bo around but when the season started, it all went south and Bo went back being Bo. A ****head.

Why would Bo need a guarantee to be starter? All he had to do was look at the QB play after he got hurt. He would have started
Think it as more of a commitment from Harsin to Bo. When Bo didn’t get that, he left.

@WarDamnEagleWDESo Harsin didn't try to keep Bo from leaving?
Nope. I'm told that Bo wanted a guarantee to be the #1 QB to start the fall and the staff told him no. Which is fine if you have a replacement. So far, AU doesn't have a replacement. Winning has to become a priority at some point and some concessions have to be made at times. Saban bent when he had too building his program. Same with Kirby. This staff is like a stone wall that won't budge. Guess we shall see how this works.

Gonna be very interesting to see how we come out of September and the mood before going to Athens and getting absolutely destroyed. Then following it up with a road game vs Lane.
Bye week of October 22nd is definitely one to watch with our issues at QB/OL and elsewhere.
Not addressing the OL and WR's last fall plus processing your starting QB for one who can't go through spring ball is just................................

All I'm going to say is hold on. Be interesting to see what people are saying at the end of October.

Well we're 24 hours out from his official resignation and Kiesau hasn't been named yet. Still probably him but I figured he would have been named immediately, like Schmed with Mason.
If he is going to go down, it will be with his people.

Is there really going to be a search?

I’ve been trying to research that and see. All I have been able to find so far is this:
“Two new candidates have reportedly been offered invitations to interview for the job: UAB’s Bill Clark and West Virginia’s Neal Brown, per Phillip Marshall of Auburn Undercover.”
That was from Auburnwire.usatoday.com
Neither of those two got a sniff from AU.

That’s what annoyed me too. All of his coaching update articles (that I read) were always just him tossing around names of coaches that could be found on Twitter, any message board, or even if you asked an Auburn fan who they wanted. And then he would opine on what he thought of them and if they’d be good fits or how likely they were to leave. It was literal breakroom talk, and yet he’s a “journalist” that is supposed to be “well connected”. I’m usually slow to form an overall negative opinion of someone, but I’m with ya now. I’d love to see Auburn fans on that site call him out and then cancel their subscriptions en mass.
Wasn't PAM the one pushing the nonsense that Bill Clark turing the AU job down? Am I recalling this correctly? Which wasn't true at all. Clark never even got a call from AU. His agent reached out and AU said "Thanks but no thanks." .

You are forgetting that he was dead on concerning the original plan to have Steele named HC. I'm not defending everything the man has written, but to claim that he doesn't have contacts inside the athletic department and university is simply not true. Allen Greene went head first into a power struggle with some very influential people. He lost the first battle when Gogue told him to go ahead and fire Gus. Then, to the surprise of those same very influential people, Gogue then let it be known that it was Greene's job as AD to find a new coach and that he would not be told to hire from within. Greene then kept every ounce of information to himself. He made the hire with the approval of Gogue and without consulting anyone else. That is why nobody knew exactly what was going on after the dismissal.
Steele was NEVER EVER considered for being the man to replace Gus. You are living in a fairytale world if you believe some of what you wrote. Greene lost the first battle and was forced to fire Gus? Is that what you said here?

He has more connections inside the athletic department than everyone on this board combined. It sounds like what people want is reporting that tells them what they want to hear, instead of actually reporting what they have learned.
No he doesn't. He has ZERO contacts in the AD now. NONE. Jay Jacobs is gone. That was his one and only source in the AD for years. I can tell you this with 100% certain. Tubs and his staff feed him info when they wanted. Same with Chiz and his staff. He was manipulated by both staffs when it was in those staff benefit. Gus and his staff didn't do anything like the other two. Now? Where is he getting his info? Greene? Harsin? Come on man.

I haven’t read Marshal’s stuff in years. I thought he used to be good, maybe back around 2010-2014 or so, but after a while I got tired of reading articles where he actually sounded more like some Twitter-perusing fan giving an “I don’t really know, folks” opinion in all his articles rather than a journalist that knows anything. Everything he wrote I could have found on my own, and already knew because of this board anyway. I got tired of reading articles from someone who, as their profession would dictate, is supposed to FIND OUT and tell us the stuff we don’t know. But it just seemed like he was always saying, “Here’s the situation. Here’s what could happen. I honestly don’t know what will happen.” But this takes my dislike of him to a whole new level. There are only three ways to look at this:
1) He truly loves Auburn, actually hears this stuff, and wants to put it out there so Auburn fans change for the better
2) He’s downright stupid. Even if Number 1 is true, then you have to lean towards this as well. As many have said, why on earth would you post this? You of all people, now??? I 100% reject the idea that we are this bad. There is no way we are so bad that he had to put this out here now in hopes of it making a difference for the recruits we’re trying to get.
3) He hates Auburn. ‘Nuff said. Don’t believe this one
Personally, I think it’s a blend of 1 and 2. He loves Auburn and is hearing all this negativity, but is not only ignorant of other fan bases, but was actually dumb enough to believe what he’s being fed. I don’t want to say he’s stupid, but my word, can you, as a thinking individual, think any less without it being intellectual malpractice? It’s mind-blowing.
Make no mistake here. PAM has a business to run and people to answer to. He has to get those clicks. His sources are drying up. Most have been pushed aside. PAM was exposed as a fraud during the coaching search. He has an agenda now and hitched his wagon to the wrong folks. Been this was for years. He's trash and I've said that for years here.

One could even argue that PM’s piece actually hurts recruiting. After all, why draw attention to something so negative?
This article was as absurd as it was unneeded.
Win. That’s all. Just win games.
#BasketballIsPositive
His source on this was a coach who was fired. Yeah, no axe to grind here. Not hard to figure out who it is.

This is as BS and anything I've ever seen. Message boards and twitter don't cost AU or anyone recruits. I might now know a lot about the X's and O's of football but I damn sure know recruiting and how it works. Have any of you looked at LSU's boards and twitter this year? Kentucky after that loss last weekend? Brutal.
PAM and people like him, those of who rely on people with an agenda, are the ones who are the problems. All of that bull**** he wrote about the coaching search, none of it was anywhere close to true. He is the problem.
Ex Au coach, who was FIRED, was his source on this one. So if you support his site you are hurting AU more than the mean old twitters. Fact. I've talked with these kids, They are not blind sheet being steering by the mean old internet fans.

Real question:
Do we believe we can land a QB any better than Calzada without landing an OT or IOL from the portal to make a better selling point than we have right now?
Honestly?
I know we will have a nasty D next year, but the OL makes the run game go.
Land the prize QB. Get the OL’s.

I’m not so sure about that. Coming to the SEC elevated their footprint above that of the Longhorns. With Texas coming to the SEC, the Aggie faithful will keep the funds flowing. And their pockets are as deep as they get.
If they win, sure. For a while. But these guys will get tired of forking over several million a year for players. When the new wears off on the NIL.
100K weekends get old when you don’t win.

I don't have any idea IF Kelly will work at LSU. But one thing I do know, Kelly runs a very tight and strick ship. Those LSU players are in for a huge shock. He don't play. Something that LSU hasn't had in over a decade.

He literally checks every box we desperately need: OC, OL, great recruiter. He would be such a great hire it seems almost impossible that it would ever happen because…well…JABA😞
Why leave a great situation at Baylor? Especially when he, Grimes will get a shot at a Power 5 job in the next year or two at the most? Makes no sense for him to go anywhere. No matter what AU offered him. Nothing to do with JABA.

Coach Harsin Quotes on First Practice

Just Ed wanted the reassurance that he would be #1 going into fall. Not sure that is bending over. Starter before his injury. It was just two sides positioning for whatever.
Bo was awful for the most part. Not going to miss him at all. Well maybe we will if the QB’s here now are as bad. Which so far they are. Just mind numbing issuers that shouldn’t be. Bunch of rookies all the way around.
