  1. I'm not usually a troll, but I'm enjoying getting my ass kicked here. In 2 years as Miami's OC, Lashlee elevated the offense a lot. SMU is doing just fine: two of SMU's losses were to ranked teams (TCU was close; UCF was not), a loss to a 6-3 Maryland team, and a 2-point loss to Cincinnati. That's entirely consistent with last year--and last year's coach seems pretty darn capable.
  2. I was so sad to see that. We’ve struggled for sure on the OL, but those guys are giving everything they have. That’s hard to do when you’re not having success, and he’s been a warrior.
  3. Take a look at what he’s done…. Lord, not with Gus.
  4. Not as a first tier choice. But suppose Deion and Lane, etc., don’t want to come. I think he’d succeed.
  5. I guess I failed to start a conversation about what we need from our coaches. That was my intent. Sorry.
  6. It’s behind a paywall, but there’s an article in The Athletic about Sonny Dykes making home visits to players after getting the TCU job to re-recruit them. And I thought….
  7. I highly doubt he's in over his head schematically. The SEC has no monopoly at all on outstanding coaching. The evidence against my point is the second half reversals. We didn't start talking about that since Nix got hurt. Since then, we've had a combination of mostly awful OL line play and QB play that's not good enough to overcome that. That's a recipe for falling apart in the second half. I'm not saying Harsin should stay. Our recruiting is killing us, and he doesn't seem wired to change that. But you'd be surprised how many Colorado watchers are begging for them to hire him.
  8. "What would RunInRed say?"
  9. What Jordan, etc., didn't do was blame everyone for their personal performance. They might push somebody real hard--I don't remember it being individuals in a big media forum, but maybe--but never to excuse themselves. That's a big difference. Look, he's a kid. I can forgive him. It was just the wrong thing to do.
  10. Appreciated. I was more troubled by the thought that a Bible verse would solve Auburn's coaching question.
  11. We're asking him not to break our program. We're paying millions and millions of dollars. And other people can coach. There's no "church" to this for me. I'll add one thought. As many of us who wouldn't trust him with the job, there are a lot of recruits and their parents who would see things the same way, with lots of help from competing coaches.
  12. Oh, please not this. By the way, I'm a Bible professor at a theological seminary. There's forgiveness, and there's assigning someone to a position of responsibility. Those are two very different things.
  13. Character is essential. Freeze is absolutely unacceptable to me. Beyond the pale like Petrino was. I'd wanna know more about Kiffin, but right at this moment it's not obvious to me how Auburn is an upgrade from his current position. Ole Miss has almost as many toys to play with as we do, they have better players, and their fans and administration are grateful. Like always but even more so now, your best shots are rising stars who are working at a lower level or even as assistants. Anybody an average fan knows much about is not a serious candidate for this job. But I'd sure be calling Kansas and maybe Coastal Carolina, App State, or UTSA. I'd want to know if Deion wants to move up and what his plan would be. Even with those jobs, it would be hard for anyone who doesn't already know how to recruit the SEC to do well here.
