  1. I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but surely you see how far you're pushing the bounds of credulity. His sons will only be in school for a few years at most. He himself is probably moving on to bigger coaching opportunities soon, and they may go with him. Any direct benefit to him or his family from actions taken to help the SWAC or HBCUs in general would be very minimal.
  2. If that's the case, why has he gone out of his way to help elevate HBCUs? The SWAC commissioner is briefly interviewed in the 60 Minutes segment and states straight-forwardly that Sanders has opened doors for them that were previously closed. Honestly, it sounds like you just have some negative impression of him from his playing days. People change and mature as they grow older.
  3. Which one of our OL hasn't had that happen? At least with a new starter you can say "if he'd started from the beginning of the year, maybe he wouldn't be making that mistake mid-season".
  4. From the Mike Leach coaching tree: Eric Morris . . . for OC.
  5. On the other hand, how many people on our list of coaching candidates have the notoriety to receive a 60 Minutes interview?
  6. I suggest adding him to your "ignored users" list, but that's just me.
  7. The length of Harsin's tenure is not strongly affected by his treatment by the media. The media is not responsible for his record on the field or the approach he chose to take to recruiting and player retention. Nor would media treatment strongly affect how long a potential Sanders, Kiffin, or Grimes tenure would be.
  8. In all seriousness, when they make a move, they'll call a press conference, so all the local staples will be covering it about the same time.
  9. No offense, but how high up is your source? Sounds like a classic case of the regular employees not being "let in" on the plan due to the sensitivity of the subject.
  10. Well, at least Harsin is "outcoaching" Kiffin. LMBO.
  11. They're back to running the ball, so I'm afraid they've discovered the weakness in our defense, guys. Not going to end well.
  12. Don't bother trying logic. He just want's Sanders to be our next coach and goes after all other potential candidates.
  13. I was tempted to go with: "You'll never guess what happened to him."
  14. Yes, he was in for a series. Ended with him fumbling away the ball after getting hit in the backfield behind our OL.
  15. UM QB had the first down with a short pass that was wide open. Makes a terrible decision to throw into coverage downfield. Pass broken up. QB chewed out by Lane. ... Then a BS pass interference call gives UM new life.
  16. Robby has the habit of throwing really hard whenever he gets into trouble. Looks like this is a pick.
  17. I understand if you're not "excited" by him. He is a proven high level recruiter wherever he's been, including in the SEC. On the other hand, he's certainly not the "biggest name" on the list. More importantly, for all our sanities, you're not Nostradamus. You don't know how many wins any of the coaches in consideration would get per year. I wish we could have reasonable, fact-based discussions here and people would stop with this kind of thing.
  18. In what world does this make sense to you? How many Head Coaches in Football exist that were not "career position/coordinator[s]" prior to becoming HCs? What was Kirby Smart before he became the HC at UGA? Certainly, JG's lack of head coaching experience is the big knock on him as a candidate. No single person on this board has stated that he's a "hot shot can't miss coach." There are pluses and minuses for every coach listed, and we've been through them ad nauseum at this point.
  19. This may be true, but it would be a mistake to pre-judge. If he's willing to interview, you darn well give him an interview. And if he shows real interest, he absolutely should be strongly considered.
  20. Not here to pick on you or Mikey. I think, ultimately, this argument boils down to who you want to be competitive with, as I've alluded to multiple times. . . . Having said that, the word "competitive" is defined as follows: 😁 Dictionary (Definitions from Oxford Languages · Learn more) com·pet·i·tive /kəmˈpedədiv/ adjective adjective: competitive 1. relating to or characterized by competition. "a competitive sport" Similar: ruthless, merciless, aggressive, fierce, dog-eat-dog, cutthroat Opposite: gentlemanly having or displaying a strong desire to be more successful than others. "she had a competitive streak" Similar: ambitious, driven, vying, combative, contentious, aggressive, insistent, driving, pushing, zealous, keen, pushy, go-ahead Opposite: apathetic 2. as good as or better than others of a comparable nature. "a car industry competitive with any in the world" (of prices) low enough to compare well with those of rival merchants. "we offer prompt service at competitive rates"
  21. The weird thing to me is we don't know if he'd dying of cancer or if his mom revoked his internet privileges. It could be anything!
  22. 50/50 in the SEC makes us "competitive" with the average SEC team. To be "competitive" with the top teams in our league, we'd need to be 50/50 with those top teams. (Not to belabor the point...)
