  1. I watched some of Yale's game today. They do not look athletic. Their big passed the ball well today but he's slow and doesn't look for his shot. They were really fortunate to win today. Had to make two shots in the final minutes to beat an 11-19 team in Brown. The game looked like it was two 5A Alabama high school teams playing. My cold take: An Auburn win by 10+. The second round is where it will be interesting.
  2. I don't think Auburn goes back to that type of team. I fully believe that Kessler changed Pearl's mindset. Further, Pearl has mention that with the new lack of charging rules that he would need to change his team's dynamic(paraphrasing) into a more drive type of team like the NBA. I'd also assume he goes for bigger guards moving forward(after this year).
  3. I hope Auburn does. Auburn is losing some serious offensive talent after this year. Broome and Williams will be hard to replace. They do have some good returning players though.
  4. I want this Auburn staff to do well. That being said, I will not give them the benefit of the doubt until/unless the teams stop having games where they look unprepared/unmotivated. But back to recruiting. It concerns me that Auburn has lost two highly rated defensive linemen recruits since Jeremy Garrett went to the NFL. Those being 4* Antonio Coleman and 4* Kalen Edwards. I do believe that Vontrell King-Williams is too new to judge so far but it is not a good first step. I hope he can pull in some good talent to replace them.
  5. Not that I care that much but I would like to point out the hypocrisy of someone that made $10 million dollars per year and had stipulations that he be paid the highest in CFB to turn around and claim that the only thing players are caring about is money. That hypocrisy is so thick you can cut it.
  6. I appreciate the response. Admittedly I come at this from a much different perspective than others. Not that I am unique.
  7. If this means the continued difficulty in obtaining basketball talent are you ok with it? What if it means Bruce Pearl leaves Auburn for another school? These are serious questions in regards to Nike/Jumpman. From reports, it is a large sticking point for Bruce Pearl. We aren't talking about a basketball Jordan logo on Auburn's football uniforms. We are talk about the ability of Auburn basketball players to wear Air Jordans instead of UA. From what I have gathered it means Nike football and basketball uniforms.
  8. A 90% reduction would allow me to retire earlier. More likely though is that I'd put myself on the hook for a graduate degree. I do hope it works out that way for her. She is certainly smart enough.
  9. Now mind you I didn't get full details. We toured Tennessee(she loved it). They showed a graphic that had the price at $26K for out of state tuition. Seemed high to me. But then you search Auburn's which is lower. That is $59,032 minus the Miscellaneous Expenses(books) for four years Hence the $60K guess I made. Now I suppose scholarships could be gained but I don't operate on things I cannot control. I will assume the higher figure and be thrilled if scholarships knock the price down. My daughter doesn't seem interested in Auburn. We are going to tour it at some point to see if her mind changes, The high school is taking her class for a tour of Bama. The others we plan to visit is UAB(I can get half off but we don't want her there), Jacksonville State(her likely landing spot), and UT Chattanooga. Auburn.edu Undergraduate Costs by Semester Tuition and Fees – 2024-2025 Fall, Spring, or Summer Alabama Resident: $6,445 Non-Alabama Resident: $17,461 Other Costs – 2024-2054 Housing and Food: $8,313 (On-Campus Housing) Housing and Food: $7,718 (Off-Campus Housing) Housing and Food: $4,183 (Living with Parent) Miscellaneous Expenses: $3,683 (Books, Course Materials, Supplies, Equipment, Transportation, and Personal)
  10. JLee stated on the Sunday call_in show that he expects Auburn to go with Nike apparel and Jumpman shoes. He said he would be shocked it didn't happen that way. Went on to say that Auburn football doesn't have a strong feeling about it but Bruce Pearl does. Meaning Nike uniforms and Air Jordan shoes. If it happens I cannot see a bigger winner here than Auburn basketball.
  11. A few things to unpack in that article. First and foremost. The moment they institute a collective bargaining agreement, the universities like Texas, TAMU, UGA, and Bama will again gain the upper hand. They're never going to stick to a defined set of rules. NIL changed that and dispersed talent more readily throughout CFB. Secondly, there absolutely is reason to bitch, whine, and complain when you're the one being milked for every cent. I don't contribute but I understand why someone would stop. It is the same reason I don't contribute. Middle class workers living in modest to poor conditions being asked to contribute to a 18 year old's lavish lifestyle is a large ask. Auburn University taking in millions upon millions of dollars and asking fans to donate whatever we can. Give me a break. My ego is not so precious that I must give any disposable income I can come up with so that Auburn can compete is bama and UGA. I just don't know how much further I am willing to go down this road. I am likely out at the first lockout/strike. I know it is coming. An aside: Being the sidewalk fan that I am. I am profoundly confused how a good deal of the alumni of Universities tend to operate post graduation. Degrees aren't cheap. I have a 15 year old that I am shopping schools for already. Degrees can be around 60-100k depending. If you have done it, all the more to you. I will pay for my 15 year olds college when it comes time. I am just baffled that alumni paid to go to a University like Auburn and graduate. Then turn around and donate money afterward to the same university. I get that you love it but you paid to go there. It's not like they were doing any of you favors. I mean absolutely no disrespect whatsoever. What each of you choose to do with your disposable income is your business but I just can't wrap my head around it.
  12. Jay G Tate came out and said it in a Drain video then realized what he was saying and walked it back to (paraphrasing) it is the most logical and what he thinks is going to happen. Whether or not you take him at his word or not is up to you. I have no way to verify one way or another. It just seems to be the most logical choice to me. JLee also alluded to it but didn't commit to it.
  13. I do not disagree with fans having unrealistic expectations. Being that as it is, there is crazy amounts of money being thrown around in college sports. The athletes and coaches have no room to complain about criticism. The fans are what allows them the privileged life they lead. There has to be accountability and a payoff.
  14. This is the old situation where you be the legend at one place or be at most second best at another. I've got no reservation about Pearl possibly loving Indiana. To say that Auburn is a bad situation is rather short sighted. Pearl will likely go down as the best coach in Auburn history. He is deserving of the accolades for building the Auburn program. He will likely have his name on Auburn basketball buildings in the future. He will get almost anything he wants. From reports, he wants Steven Pearl to be the head coach in waiting and a more basketball oriented apparel deal. Auburn is poised to sign with Nike. I see no reason Auburn wouldn't give Steven Pearl the HCIW tag. But then again Auburn did run off a historically great swim coach. So what do I know?
  15. Cole Pinkston stated that the OL gave up 31 sacks last season. I agree with him that some of that is Thorne holding the ball too long and some of it being attributed to bad WR play. This year I feel the OL will be improved and coupled with the WRs being better that just leaves one part of the equation that needs to be balanced. Let us see if Thorne improves. To answer the question, I believe the OL will be better. I'm hoping that they make a marginal leap forward and half the sack total from last year and produce a better running game.
  16. These kids often do come from a single parent homes. In that they lack proper male leadership/guidance. A proper male role model. The three adults should know better and act proper. There are two kinds of trash talk. There is nothing wrong with the competitive type. After the game each side shakes hands only to try harder the next round. The mean-spirited type isn't healthy. These three adults showed the kids of all of the teams there(not just their own) that violence is acceptable. I don't care on bit that Cam played for Auburn in this regard. All three should be ashamed.
  17. It would definitely work for the female sports. I've got to say that it would be a great idea in that scenario. But maybe not so much for the male sports.
  18. I kind of wonder if BP was trying out the bigger lineup to prepare for Tenn or because JWill was out. I'm not saying it was one or the other but Tenn has a few guys around 7'0".
