If we were as desperate to change the optics as they were we might still be in the fight, but they couldn’t afford to lose him so they made sure they didn’t. I don’t think we were nearly as motivated as them when you consider what we just pulled into the WR room. They have just taken a media beating from all the transfer portal entries and had to make it look like they weren’t a sinking ship from a recruiting standpoint.

People keep saying he’s a career 8-4 coach without the context of that being at schools that weren’t close to averaging 8-4 before he got there. He has made every program better by a pretty significant margin.

To go from 800k to 50k it has to be something like a way to maintain insurance or achieve pension goals. I know he most likely has plenty of money aside from this salary but 50k from the level he was at is most likely not worth leaving the house for. Im shocked that almost any level of support staff would make that little especially with his experience and resume. Maybe he’s working 4 hours a week. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Does Kiffin have any tangible play calling experience? That’s my concern there. Chemistry is great but I’m guessing calling a defense is hard, so experience seems important. Maybe Kiffin is a defensive genius. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The only ones pretending are the ones who won’t let it go. I think most here do care and are willing to understand that we don’t have to know everything when all it will do is potentially add hurt. Nothing we could learn is going to change the reality of Caddy being gone and our program moving on. No one that matters is clamoring for more information. I don’t understand the need to keep trying to get details…it’s a little gross to me.

You could read ESPN’s timeline of events and investigation if you have an interest in what happened. According to all of the investigative info he didn’t cause the players death. He was also found to have not created a hostile atmosphere according to the results of the investigation.

Sounds like a winning strategy if we can make it work. 👍🏼

I’m sure yall have heard the same thing from podcasts that I’ve heard. Supposedly Nix and Thornton have talked up Durkin. No idea if that is true but that is what was being said, that based on the time that they worked with him he should be the hire. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’d like to see a one time only transfer rule with the only exception being if the head coach leaves, anything else you sit out a year. The transfer anytime for any reason is just too much chaos.

I would think the only reason it would have taken this long is because we were trying to work it out with someone else and for whatever reason it didn’t. If it ends up being DJ, I won’t lose sleep over it. I just hope it works so we aren’t doing this again next year.

This clearly seems to be something done on a personal level, so why would we want someone we proclaim to love so much to have to take this private pain out into the public. There seems to be a fair amount of effort into not publicly besmirching Caddy’s reputation any further. We should be proud of our University for honoring him in that way and we should be doing the same. But, but I need the details. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I don’t know the mechanics of how complete the process could have already been with Kiffin (due to contract stipulations and such), but assuming it wasn’t a done deal that’s where some of these others may come in to play. As far as the culture question goes, there are so many variables to something like that…it would definitely give me pause I just hope that those that are making the decision get all the info to make the right call. Culture is after all what all the talk has been about getting it right. 🤞🏼

This is how you get an excellent wide receiver room. Have to keep stacking talent because as many have mentioned we will have some that decide to leave so we need talent consistently coming in. It isn’t about any single year, but I sure am excited about the group we are starting with this year! Keep reeling em in coach!

Wouldn’t surprise me. Although I’m not sure what the rush would be if Kiffin is the right man for the job. I don’t really feel like waiting negatively impacts us, but I could see wanting to get it done and start building some momentum into the spring. Chris Kiffin from the Texans is the common thought. They play today. If they lose it would most likely happen in the next day or so if it is him.

That is what I thought I had read and why I could see through some very optimistic eyes that he graduates this spring and heads our way. That would still shock me and sounds a bit far fetched but I’d be ok with it. 😄
