  1. We have gotten four transfers recently if the odds are so good where are our results? Are we just bad at it? Do you think PT looked significantly worse than Bo at their time of transfer? Daniel’s was pretty good his first year at LSU but it was a second year jump that got him to the Heisman. Kentucky went 10-3 and then 7-4 the second with Levis and no legit hardware to show for it. I have no idea what they paid but I’m not sure I see a return.
  2. It’s a pretty big crap shoot. How much money do you throw at that. There are certainly more transfer QBs that continue to do nothing after a transfer than there are that become the best in the country. We just don’t hear about them anymore and can only focus on the successful cases. The Sanders kid people wanted us to get that went to Ole Miss. Leary to Kentucky last year. The guy that Cal got, that they were pumped about last year that’s back in the portal. Were those worth while expenses? It’s a roll of the dice and expensive.
  3. I agree! Didn’t mean for those to sound like legit questions. It was just a bit of joking around about them being plot options.
  4. Sounds like a football based soap opera episode. Was he trying to flee a situation? Does he need to stay to get it swept under the rug? Is it all fabricated? So many plot options. In all seriousness, hopefully this ends in the truth.
  5. Yeah I think most if not all will consider chasing the money, but if you can create a sense of belonging and maintain fair pay then I think you’ll tend to hold on to more. Some of the kids are searching for playing time which I think is different than chasing money. Once a player starts chasing money they would seem to be more difficult to retain at fair market because someone will always be desperate.
  6. Obviously it’s all just speculation but I believe what Freeze is doing has a higher and more sustainable ceiling. Creating a foundation and plugging in pieces would seem to be a better team building atmosphere than the strength of your team being 1-2 year mercenaries. If we return to the one time transfer rule then it makes it a little easier to get young guys that can’t turn right around and leave again.
  7. Depends on that and PT’s year two jump. Im hoping we do some serious portal hunting now that ENSD is behind us but I know NIL allocation is a real thing and making good use of our funds is extremely important.
  8. What I meant was Leary was considered a top portal QB option that we were also reportedly interested in and Stoops did not get near the next level with him. I don’t believe Stoops is capable of getting to the next level.
  9. Didn’t he get one of the top QBs from the Portal last year?
  10. I wish I had seen this before I did all the typing in my other post. 😄
  11. Am I missing how this is possibly a moot point now that NIL is a thing? Is there any reason that increased NIL and no scholarship can’t get by the 85 limit? Here is a $20k scholarship and $15k NIL. Here is $50k NIL but we don’t have a scholarship available. I know the NIL ”doesn’t come from the school “.
  12. Colorado sitting at 94th (counting this guy😬) Dieon is clearly all in on the portal , whether by choice or not. Lane seems to be trending this way also. It will be interesting to see how successful that can be. But back on topic I am loving our ENSD results!
  13. Yeah I’m not sure if there is somewhere he would leave Auburn for but I wouldn’t think it be Florida at all.
  14. The bold and underlined section is where the optimism would come from. Clearly PT wasn’t a world beater by season end but he appeared to make the right decision more often than not. It seems as though Coach Freeze is leaning into that.
  15. That’s a head scratcher to me.
  16. IMO if you didn’t have a QB (IMO a really good one) as a key member of your current recruiting class I think you could be a little more adventurous on trying to bring someone in. I don’t have any indication on how tight this recruit bunch is and what they’ve been told but that has to be a consideration. We need to change the receiver room in a much bigger way than the QB room. We have got to bring in the play makers that make every inch of the field dangerous for our opponent. We (our coaches) aren’t selling NFL tickets at the moment we are selling relationships. Me as a fan I don’t know how integrated our recruiting class is with current players or other recruits but that is at the very least a component to all this that we don’t understand the details of. I would love a world beating QB but I know it wouldn’t mean anything if the current roster didn’t get upgraded. A stacked class of wide receivers and a really good QB coming in seems to be a better way to build the future rather than getting on the expressway to a first round playoff loss this next year with a hot QB and risk the foundation we are building. Feel free to rip. I have no real info and just thought I 🤮 my opinion.
  17. 😄 neither. I had a cousin (Ricky Johnson) that walked on and played defensive back for Dye back in the late 80’s and he kinda galvanized my fandom for Auburn. So it’s kind of a tribute to him.
  18. Do we have a pretty good idea which guys are planning to be here for spring? Ive heard a few but I probably missed a list somewhere.
  19. I wonder if the coaches have a little less time to focus on those shenanigans with the additional responsibilities of portal recruitment and roster retention.
  20. Seems like an odd move, but I don’t really know the situations.
