Yeah I know. Go against the mob mentality get thrashed. I guess we will see in 4 years. Hope he's everything we want a player I've just seen this type of LB struggle in the SEC where they aren't able to free themselves on blocks and rely to much on being able to out speed players and not plugging their gaps or taking themselves out of plays to get free. Sure he will make some fantastic plays some highlight plays.
Don't worry about the mob. Welcome to the family. It's just like a family with all the in fighting. ha ha

Who gives a rat behind just be happy we got somekind of OL commit for now. God this crap gets old and its only frickin Feb
I am happy, but the constant bashing of JB gets pretty old too. Some people talk out of both sides of their mouth on the issue. First it's Gus fault that JB can't recruit then it's JB's fault then it's all about relationships blah blah blah. We all would love to sign more 5 star o-linemen and make first round nfl draft picks out of all of them wouldn't we?

From the kids mouth:
Jernigan informed Gus Malzahn and offensive line coach J.B. Grimes of his decision. Jernigan and Grimes have developed a strong bond over the past year.
“(Grimes) has been the main one recruiting me and I love him,” Jernigan said. “He’s a very down-to-earth person. He’s going to shoot it straight with you and he’s going to tell you the truth. If he says something he means it. That’s what stuck out to me about him. I really like Coach Grimes.”
Now you know we can't have this. You can't be giving JB any credit for recruiting, it just doesn't fit the narrative.

Man that Bama Bump surely looks evident....my goodness
That's why you have to take these stars and rankings with grain of salt. If you only went by that the turds should have won the natty again but they didn't. They can be beat no matter how many 5 stars they have.

You can't measure heart and it sounds like this kid has heart. I look for him to be a player for us. Welcome and

With 27 spots available we have enough room to take care of all the needs in the class & have room to bring him in to.
Probably a good while if ever since he was planning to Blue Shirt at UGA. He also can play slot WR or DB & is open to those positions as well.
Do you think we use all 27? And what is a blue shirt? same as a redshirt?

I would pull for him either way, but it would be very impressive of Griffin to stick there. I know the high school sweetheart he married is adequately attractive but he's getting approached by some supermodels.
What? He's married, didn't know that, then there is no way he comes here.

I hope MAR is great because my gut tells me we ain't getting Griffin. Think he sticks with NC St.

Have we already replaced dilly dilly with this guy? You would think an Auburn reporter could get the names right.

I was raised on a farm with tons of cattle, not longhorns, but the bulls had some big ass horns.....this has got to be one of the dumbest ass things I've ever seen
I meant to say strange dog, but still the handlers should have known to keep that dog away. Cattle will tolerate a dog they are used to better but still will make them keep their distance.

For anyone who may have missed it. Also this is what happens when anyone tries to get one of @augolf1716's PBRs...
I guess since I'm in the cattle business I know these things. But what fool doesn't know that cattle do not like dogs around them. I would have thought the Texas guy's would have told them to get that dog out there. But I'm impressed that they kept things under control, it could have been real ugly.

Bring him in as our QB coach or "off field" coach
And head coach in waiting, I can see it now. I think I'll pass on him myself.

Recruiting numbers should be planned out at least 2 years in advance but it’s like our staff plans only for the here and now
I would go 3 to 4 years and would prefer 4 for the o-line. But yeah 2 is better than 1.

Didn't JB recruit this group? If so 4 out of the 6 started this year. And people say JB can't recruit. He just needs to get the Hand out of them.

with 17 for 5 positions there's plenty of depth
That maybe enough, but part of the problem is distribution. We only signed two last year I think and five the year before but two of those were grad transfers, it's hard to build good depth that way. I think we should be signing 4-5 every year and not be constantly having to go the juco and grad transfer route.

Most times when we have a guy as a backup plan our slow-playing fails and he signs elsewhere. Example is Goss last year. Maybe some of those guy's commitments should be accepted and a slot or two saved for the super prospects? In other words, sign good, solid prospects that we can get and use the super guys as backup lans? That's just spitballing on my part but holding out for the super prospects hasn't been working for us.
You may be on to something here, but it's still not just luck. If they are slow playing kids, then that is not luck when you don't sign any one on signing day. Like I said they need to work harder or smarter, but something needs to change in our o-line recruiting.

the numbers right now look to be in the ballpark of 7 OTs & 10 OG/Cs or 8 OTs & 9 OG/Cs
How many do you think or the staff think we should have? Those numbers look low to me.

Here's hoping our luck with OT prospects changes soon
I think you make your own luck, through hard work. Somebody is either not working hard enough or not working smart enough. Changes need to be made, I don't know what those changes should be, but what is being done is not working.

Guf had it right the 1st time. Decent recruiter.
Your being pretty liberal with word decent. I can't say that he was any better than Grimes. But it doesn't matter we all know we need a elite recruiter not a decent one.

I’ll say Texas’ OL looked okay this year. I would bank on this as a peak. Not a building block. His OL looked the same at Penn State as it did at Auburn. Herb Hand is a bad coach.BAD recruiter. Bad coach.

I said I wasn't going to get into the recruiting this year because of Gus. But like the guy on the sonic commercial it just keeps sucking me back in.

Regarding Grimes, I actually felt the OL did pretty well the last three games against top talent in Georgia and Alabama. I think with the OL, it takes time to develop properly, which is why most OL freshmen do not start. I think Hand could not develop at all, just using guys that Grimes developed before him. I think this rang true this year seeing Hand’s guys he was supposed to develop tanking. Not saying we keep Grimes, but I think we started to see Grime’s efforts pay off at the end of the season.
I actually agree with you on this post. But what we need is a coach that can develop players like Grimes or even better, but can recruit lights out to go with the coaching. I don't who that coach is, but that's what we need.

Things I Think I Saw: AU vs Miss State....

Do you think these linebackers could turn out to be some the best we had in a long time? I love the way Britt is playing, he brings that linebacker mentality with him when he hits someone.
