  1. Glad you brought up ACE. Do you see a trend here?
  2. NPR outlived their purpose 25 years ago. They are an excellent example of how nothing ever gets defunded, no matter what.
  3. No, dead people always vote democrat.
  4. Senator Kennedy speaks for the majority of Americans.
  5. I think NIL is a toxin for teams. It's going to drive coaches insane before it's all over. I'm sure it was hard for Tre to see Aden with a bigger payout, and that puts more pressure on Aden too. And I assume Tahaad will come in making more than Aden. I would have liked to see both Tre and Aden come back. Absent NIL, they probably would have. They are way better than people give them credit for. You don't win 25 games and the SEC title without good guards. And they will be better next year. I hope Bruce kills it in the portal like last year, but there's no guarantees. And it sounds like a lot of tampering is going on with Broome. This whole system really does suck. I'm glad to see the players making some money, but it would be better if they all got a nice wage that is the same. As it is, this is going to escalate until only a handful of schools can afford the top talent.
  6. sigh, it was sarcasm..a little dig at tinman....guess I shouldn't be kicking him when he's down...some of our fans apparently need things spelled out for them.
  7. I hate to see him go. Still has some upside, and his 3 point % was good. I'll always wonder what he would have done at safety. I think he would have had a better shot at the NFL than the NBA.
  8. What is the Democrat's plan for RFK Jr.? It appears to be deny him secret service protection and wait for the CIA solution for troublesome Kennedys.
  9. Suggestions for tinman for new thread title.. After UConn crushes Bama in the final four....
  10. Most of what you said is correct. Hurricanes aren't per se more destructive however. The rising costs simply reflect inflation and increased population density in coastal areas. I agree that people who choose to build on the coast need to bear the full expense of insurance, which has not always been the case in the past.
  11. This is a problem everywhere. Has nothing to do with climate change. We have very good data showing no increase in hurricanes over the last 50 years. I'm inland in Austin, and my homeowner's policy went up 50% this year.
  12. Yes, they get Social Security and their federal pension. Retirement age for the pension is 57. They also get a separate healthcare retirement plan with richer benefits than medicare. Why is this a good idea?
  13. It's not social security per se that is broken. It's spending. The best thing we could do to fix SS is to have all federal employees join social security instead of taking a federal pension. Phase it in so it is fair to current retirees. Have them join medicare too. We don't need a pampered 1% with separate rules determining how to keep SS solvent.
  14. About time a state did a cost/benefit analysis related to climate change spending. It always cracks me up to see Canada spending a fortune fighting climate change. Guess they are afraid that someday their winters may "only" be like Minnesota's.
  15. I think we have a need at PG and we have put our chips on a very good one. It's not realistic to think we can recruit a top transfer who will be happy to come in and compete for a starter's role. If we can make that work and keep both guys happy, great. But I don't think so. And NIL money is needed elsewhere.
  16. That's not how it works in NIL world. We're going to have to put our resources elsewhere. We are going to have some much bigger holes to fill.
  17. Sounds like you think we should get a transfer PG instead of Pettiford..well, that's not a good plan.
  18. I'm a little more sympathetic to CBM after looking at the play that led up to this. The Yale player did almost the exact same thing to him, but it was a hand to the throat instead of an elbow to the chest. Regardless, CBM has to be too smart to retaliate like he did. I like the passion that CBM plays with, and the very fact that we couldn't beat Yale without him says a lot about his value to the team. CBM is going to get baited a lot next year, and he's going to have a target on his back with the refs. It will be a challenge for both CBM and Pearl to deal with it. I'm rooting for him. The kid is quite a player, but he is going to have to get more mature if he wants to reach his potential.
  19. Tai Buster. He's gonna make the all-name team for sure.
  20. Not that long ago a trillion dollar annual deficit was unthinkable. This year it will be $2.5 trillion. About $7000 for every citizen. (not taxpayer). It is unsustainable and WILL result in inflation like we have never seen before. It is an existential threat to the poor and middle class.
  21. Brilliant insight by Oates. Why didn't we think of that? Nobody at Auburn is aware that CBM should make better decisions at NCAA tournament time. I guess if you are going to push another team's player, kicking another team's player while he's down is fair game too. And maybe Sears should play defense too while he's out there for 40 minutes. Oates is a complete asshat.
  22. I think think this is true. CBM may be our best player, and the gap between him and his backup is the largest on the team. Very hard to replace. It's hard to overstate what a disaster this loss is. We need CBM back next year healthy and with a good attitude. That's going to be tough now with everyone blaming him for the loss. This loss is bound to affect team chemistry and the chemistry between the team and fans. Pearl needs to do one heck of a coaching job in the offseason. I do think OP nailed it. Pearl is a player's coach, and I like that about him, but this situation was brewing for a while. And Murphy's law, when it bit us, it bit us bad.
  23. Well, in fairness to Bruce, we do have the #1 rated PG coming in next year.
