  1. 405# power clean?!?!?! Before his senior year of high school?!?!?!?! That's nuts! I always thought PC was the best lift to represent the combo of power and explosiveness. I liked the interaction with his teammates also.
  2. One of my past complaints ... we need to obliterate some of our lesser opponents and let our backups run the full offense for extended game time. We need to have some of those guys better repped for 2020. We’ll have the skill guys that could benefit from good play by guys in this thread.
  3. I find this kids list interesting because of the teams he did not list. UCLA about the only blue blood but far in the rear view.
  4. I wish CBP would have asked me this last basketball season and I would have told him to skip Watford and go straight to Jones. The kid is smooth and can play/shoot from everywhere. Not afraid to pass the ball or shoot it. Of course that is coming from me ... self-admitted know nothing ... I never saw Mark play. I will say I was always more impressed with Jones than I was with Watford. To me, Jones' game will translate to college better as a 2 than Watford will translate to college as a 3 - i dont think he is big enough to be a 4. 247 says he is 6-9, but I thought he was 6-7
  5. It truly is a crazy world Auburn basketball finds itself in nowadays. I love the idea of keeping these kids 2-3 years regardless of how good they are. The continuity within the team would be helped. The hard part for me with the comparisons to other players - I love watching Auburn play, but really am only a casual fan with the rest of the SEC and even less so with the rest of the country and almost non-existent with the NBA. I had to google darius garland, then I remembered who he is. I hope we show Mark some love. He has family ties and is good enough to recruit casually at a minimum, particularly with inroads to the Alabama AAU teams. EDIT: my last sentence got me thinking ... the whole AAU issues Auburn got slapped for when Ellis was here. I did a casual review of the Alabama Fusion web page. I did not see a single name on there that Auburn has been associated with. We are not apparently recruiting Sears. We didn't get a sniff with Watford ... which a lot of people have wondered why we were never associated there. This scant casual talk about Colby Jones ... is it because he has only made waves this most recent season or because Auburn and this fusion team arent on speaking terms??? I know this has been shot down before, but is there an issue because they are a Nike team? Which cant be, because AOT is Nike and we are trying to recruit there whole dang team. Makes me wonder if there is an issue with Auburn and this Fusion program?
  6. It’s crazy to think that CBP is elevating the Auburn talent level that a kid this talented isn’t recruited. CBP has said a lot in the past that he wants kids to stay in this state. Out of respect, I hope we show this kid some love even if we are only taking 1 PG. I guess the size disadvantage could be these guys lack of size to play at the 2 in order to split time. @cole256 this may be a loaded question and appears purely academic at this point assuming cooper is in the barn ... who’s better - sears or cooper?
  7. Clearly I was referring to cooper being a walk on ... just kidding
  8. I’m still holding out hope that cooper is finishing up summer school classes and will show up on campus next month ... I kid I kid ... sorta ...
  9. In the past I would have second guessed our recruiting philosophy but I don’t with CBP. There has to be an explanation?! We may not agree with it but surely there is some logic why this kid isn’t getting recruited? harper and mclemore has shown that CBP won’t rule a kid out due to measurables for a position.
  10. Pretty athletic for his size. I hate to see all the moving around. That kind of stuff is often concerning. I worry about young big men coming to the sec. they tend to get knocked around some. I don’t know if his dribbling will translate to college but it was fun to watch on the video.
  11. Im glad to hear they are putting butts in the seats. ultimately that is the most important thing ... of course they will have to win enough and be competitive enough in the near future to keep people interested. corporate sponsorship and attendance will lead to a successful team on the field. I know there is enough home grown talent in alabama and the surrounding states to put some local kids on a theoretical girls pro team, but I'm not familiar with the boys side. without there being boys sec college teams, is there a local/regional talent pool that can filter into a pro team like this. I think there is presently one local kid who plays a little?
  12. Y’all notice how many dang draft picks auburn played against!
  13. Apples and oranges ... cbp is well known as a recruiter and infectious personality. Also he ramped up recruiting starting literally the day he was hired. This has been a multi year evolution to get where we are this month.
  14. wiley just has to stay healthy ... so that he can get extended minutes ... so he can get into a groove ... and for the love of all that is good - people have to pass him the dang ball where he can catch it (and of course he has to actually hold on to it) ... the guy worked himself to death (so did horace) and the ball wouldnt go inside enough.
  15. His head - auburn - CBP will utilize his skill set and provide a family atmosphere on the way to the nba vs his heart - dawgs - his family school come on, listen to your melon!
  16. I'm going to guess there will be more to come. The way they play HS ball, it is hard for multiple players to standout. I dont know anything about the AAU circuit. I'd prefer to see him go to Yale ... For others who dont know that team ... kid with an offer to play for harvard, one for yale and one has gotten interest from duke (possibly an offer). that is some smart basketball players.
  17. Colby Jones isn’t really quick twitch but he is super smooth. Yale may get a phenomenal player.
  18. you may think I'm crazy, but I thought he was the most dynamic player on their team. Yep, including TW. dont get me wrong, TW is a good player but he seems soft to me to be a 3 in the sec/acc. Of course I thought chumma was soft his first year ... Ha! ... I am a bball novice.
  19. I’ve got a little kinda sorta inside scoop there. Yes they could be. The AU game over there watfords dad yelled “hire Bucky” in the tunnel after the game purposefully so the Bama powers and Avery could hear him. I’m not sure details, but I think the assumption at that time was hire Bucky as an assistant to Avery. Not sure. I know people who think Bucky is a rising star. I’m not sure it will translate to college. He transformed a HS program. He is apparently very fair, hard nosed and devoted to his players. I’ve heard this possibility for a couple months. edit: I posted this before I read the article. I’ve not heard any rumors related to auburn. Apparently Bucky is a film junky and film preps hard and has his kids film prep before games. i think he’d be a great assistant. I think he has a couple personal quirks but I’ll hold on those. I’m no first hand insider
  20. I think he’ll turn up the leadership role next year as a junior and he’ll perform like CBP wanted him to this year. Obviously he’s doing great but he has a lot more in him when he is getting some of the touches that BB is.
  21. I haven’t looked at the sizes in a while but the 5 new guys are longer than our present starting 5. The #5 coming in isn’t as big but all the other positions are. with purifoy and Chuma back next year, that’s decent size. Still not so much at the 5 (I don’t think wiley comes back).
  22. Somebody his size that can shoot will absolutely force other bigs to clear the lane ... will work great for the athletes that signed this year cuz I think all of those guys can get to the basket ... with no defender standing inside
  23. Having no real reason why, other than maybe mamma, I had hope that dean was gonna sign w AU.
  24. See my post a few above this one. I’ve been told by a guy who is in a better position to know, that he likes hardaway a lot and is likely headed to Memphis. Bama high school and Bama high school coach so therefore no auburn. Family connections to Indiana. I’m not sure why LSU was in his top 4.
