Oh good, I had made a typo on your s/n so I deleted the original post to you to correct it and our responses got out of order, lol. Anyway, yeah we've got the talent and I just hate to see talent wasted. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes but personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Coach Freeze call the offense for the entire first quarter or half.

Nahh, the honeymoon isn't over by a long shot, at least not by me anyway. That doesn't mean you can't see what is going on down on the field and react to the obvious. We have a lot of talent on this team so my comment is also directed at comments to the contrary. The gameplan to utilize all that talent I listed has been underutilized imo. I really like Coach Freeze and everything he has done so far, except for this 2 QB thing. It goes against almost everything I know about developing a QB. I also find his "Robby needs his touches" comments to be strange, something needs to change. That doesn't mean I don't like CHF.  

I don't know whose offense this is but I don't think it's lack of talent. If you can't get something going with a QB like Payton Thorne, RBs like Jacquez Hunter, Jeremiah Cobb and Damari Alston, WRs like Jay Fair, Ja'Varrius Johnson, Rivaldo Fairweather, Shane Hooks and Cam Brown, then something is wrong. There is plenty of talent there to be used in a good game plan.

The thing is if Robby runs all over Samford, taking reps away from Thorne or Geriner in the process, it proves nothing. He won't be able to do that against SEC defenses. Cal's defense had a pulse and they shut him down to 8 total yards rushing/passing as he took 35% of the snaps. No wonder the offense looked like it did with this 2 QB concept and hybrid game plan thing. Thorne is QB1 and he needs to be able to run the team. He also needs to be supported with a good game plan for HIM. If Thorne can't do the job and that is something I highly doubt, then put in Geriner.

Oh sure, I would let Thorne throw a lot this week and if we get way ahead let Geriner throw a lot too.

I think this 2 QB hybrid system is messing with Thorne's mind and that's not good. It is causing him to constantly look over his shoulder and press. It's no wonder because he will engineer a good drive and then get taken out in the redzone. That's not good either, on many levels. Thank goodness at the end of the game they called time out and left him in last night in the RZ. He responded with a beautiful TD pass They need to support QB1 and let him run the team.

To have salary caps in CFB you have to have a NFL type players union in place to negotiate a contract. As part of a collective bargaining agreement you are able to negotiate, 1. salary caps, 2. two year contracts, 3. the elimination of 1 year transfers and 4. anything else. Without an agreement the courts will overthrow unilateral NCAA action to restrict the earning power of the individual. In essence, this makes everyone a free agent and that is where we are now. The NCAA mishandled this whole thing and now they want Congress to bail them out with a new Federal law. 

I have a feeling he stays in state, so 1 of the 2 Florida schools. Not sure if FSU or Miami has the edge right now but it will probably decided in the last hour.

We really had some great players on that 2013 team. 

Improved and competent play at the QB position is very important.

(add 8/14) Not only the last play but, after watching the entire game again, this was such a great game overall. One play after another, Tre Mason running hard between the tackles, that great OL blocking bama's DL and our defense stopping bama on 4th down in the 4th qtr. Last but not least was the play of Nick Marshall, what a magician. I really miss watching that guy at QB.  

Personally, I think it makes the most sense for the rest of the country to set up the conferences the way the SEC has done so they make sense regionally. It would be better for the teams, fans and players. The top level of college football would have 4 regional super conferences.

1. NEC- Northeast Conference

2. SEC- Southeast Conference 

3. NWC- Northwest Conference

4. SWC- Southwest Conference

That's true, except for the SEC which has maintained the contiguous regionality of the conference. That alone makes the SEC more valuable and it was already the premier conference in the country. The geography of the Big10 expansion is nonsensical and really devalues the conference.

The last real piece of information we have is on 8/3. Coach Freeze was asked about it at his presser and he answered, 

“I’ll say this again. I understand the question, but matters related to team rules and procedures are handled internally and will not be discussed publicly,” Freeze said.

Even though he didn't answer the reporter's question about Hunter's status, what he did say was different than before. Before he referenced the University and that he would have no comment on any University investigation. This time he specifically referenced team rules and procedures. That means to me the University is finished with the larger investigation and it has now been referred to Coach Freeze. It is between Coach Freeze and Hunter at this point and is related to team rules and procedures.
