  1. Bear with me..... What if Kiffen and CEO had a handshake deal and he recruited JS while the OC for uat? Or, he resigned from uat, coached the playoffs without a contract, and hosted JS before actually accepting the job at LSU? Like most true, Dye-hard Auburn fans I'm desperately searching for circumstances where this could work out to our worst-case scenario. Oi damn vey, I believe is what the kids are saying these days. WDE!
  2. USA Today article on Briles Excerpts: His staff ignored or actively discouraged sexual assault complaints, according to the Pepper Hamilton report, even going so far as to meet with the women making the allegations. Since 2011, 19 players have been accused of sexual assault by 17 different women, including two who were brought to Baylor by Briles despite being dismissed from their previous schools for off-the-field incidents. And, most damning of all, the university said that Briles himself knew that a female athlete had accused five of his players of gang rape and did nothing. Said nothing. Reported nothing. I suppose it's possible everyone else is lying and Art is just a patsy. WDE!
  3. Just read that Taylor Hamm (writer for Gigem 247) just CB-ed Stidham to Auburn. WDE!
  4. I'm sure it would influence his decision---hard to say how much. There was a lot of talk on this board about that at one time. WDE!
  5. Knight is a senior, I believe. Mond is a true freshman. There's been a lot of discussion about TA&M making a promise to Mond's family they wouldn't pursue another QB in this class. I don't know if anyone outside of the staff and family (media, other recruits, etc) knows what was actually said, but I wonder if they promised they wouldn't go after another HS prospect or any prospect at all. Plus---and I might have this all mixed up---Mond committed to Baylor while Stidham was there. At any rate, for a while it looked like our best shot at Stidham hinged on us hiring a Briles, and given the shadow cast over both of them that seems unlikely. Agree about the QB situation. WDE!
  6. I hope the football gods read this board. I would be thrilled to see Dameyune back in orange and blue. WDE!
  7. I'm interested to read what the insiders have to say about the likelihood of CDC working for CGM again. If memory serves words like "never" were used. Would be nice, though. WDE!
  8. Hand and Gus did alright at as co-OCs at Tulsa. Genuine question for the board: Wasn't this the plan all along---CHH as a de facto co-OC/run-game coordinator and a QB coach to replace CLL? WDE!
  9. Yes and no. I think SW is developing nicely, considering he's a finishing his second season in the rotation. When he's healthy enough to practice/play he's been pretty good. JJ has not progressed well at all. However, as it relates to recruiting, I still think JJ turned out to be a better signee than the vast majority of the guys ranked ahead of him. As I see it only three of them had better careers at the school where they originally signed. WDE!
  10. We don't disagree about CDC's recruiting prowess, aside from his ranking nationally. I don't think he's the absolute best, but I think he's among the best. This all started when you once again poo-pooed on our QB signees under CGM. It's not nearly as bad as you make it out to be. And I don't think letting Dameyune off the chain would have somehow yielded epic QB classes every year. Better situation than we have now? Maybe, maybe not. I'm genuinely interested to read what prospects people think we would have definitely signed at the position had CDC been given carte blanche. WDE!
  11. There are mutually inclusive parts to my question. I asked if the best recruiter in the county was hired because of his track record with WRs and was prohibited from recruiting QBs. WDE!
  12. Well, no offense, but I think you're wrong about a lot of things. By my cursory count we've signed zero five star, eight four star and five three star WRs in the last four cycles, and six of those eight four stars came in the last two classes. It's probably worth noting of his first six signees, one will go down as a legendarily bad teammate with CDC as his handler, two didn't developed under CDC, one was never really a WR, and two other guys quit. Five of the next seven look pretty good...with SW as their QB and Burns as their coach. I agree on paper it seems like it would make more sense to have CDC coach QBs and CRL work with WRs. I was at Auburn during the Craig years, and I hated the way it played out between him and CRL. I will forever believe he should have taken the Samford job after the 2013 season. As much as you seem to want me to, I'm not saying either of those things. He's a great recruiter---I don't know if he's hands down the best, but he's definitely up there. That's pretty much the sole reason we hired him. And I believe we've done as well as anybody is signing pretty good QBs year after year. WDE!
  13. Are you implying the best recruiter in the country, one with a history as a QB coach, was prohibited from recruiting QBs? WDE!
  14. If CDC is indeed the best recruiter in the country isn't he's as much to blame for any recruiting misses? He was at Auburn for every single one of CGM's signing classes. NSD this cycle was 3 February and he was hired at LSU on 14 February. WDE!
  15. I'm inclined to agree, but dual-threat Manziel had the best season of his career with Kingsbury. And I believe they led the SEC in passing, rushing and scoring. They haven't finished any better than 9-4 since he left. WDE!
  16. The timing seemed extremely odd, so I read an article about it right after he left. Apparently there's a largely unexploited loophole in the transfer rules. As I understand it, if he transfers to a JC and completes a certain number of hours, he could play for any D1 school after one calendar year. Meaning, if he left uat on 1 October 2016 he would be eligible 1 October 2017. WDE! Edit: The part I read I didn't see in your post is that if he graduates from JC he is no longer beholden to uat in any way.
  17. 2011 was pretty dang close. We returned three skill players, two were reserves, the only starter was a TE. WDE!
  18. Even saying he has a little LT in him is high praise in my book. LT is in my top 5 all-time backs. But I do see some similarities. During last season I was thinking Eric Metcalf. I'm hoping his weight gain isn't just offseason bulk and he plays at around 210. If he wears it well and can improve his north-south running I'm imagining a young Willis McGahee. WDE!
  19. Barrett reminds me of Yeldon. He had similar skills. They're pretty close to the same size too. WDE!
