  1. Cam Brown physically looked like Larry Fitzgerald out there.
  2. Freeze got a little of that Roy Munson in him as well!
  3. Last play of the “game” was a 58-59 yard FG that would’ve been good from 65-70 yds by the backup kicker Towns McGough (pronounced “McGoo”). The kick “won” the “game” for the offense according to the points scoring system used by Freeze this year. The kicker got swarmed after it went through. And the SEC network cameras didn’t even show the kick. They were too busy switching camera angles back and forth between Chris Doering being Coach Freeze’s on-field microphone b***h and a zoomed in side shot of the kicker.
  4. True, but you have to kinda look at it like this: Pat Head Summitt essentially pioneered excellence/championship-level major women’s basketball. Pre-WNBA, NCAA D1 basketball was about the highest level of competitive women’s basketball there was, outside some niche, separate semi-pro leagues sprinkled throughout. So, Tenn. feels like they owe it to the legacy of Summitt to be a leader in the game. And they were supplanted by Auriemma and UCONN during the transition away from Summitt, and UCONN has been supplanted by Dawn Staley. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tenn. threw unholy amounts of $$$ at Staley to come to Tennessee. Not saying it will do anything more than get her a fat raise at USCe, but I’d be surprised if they didn’t try to hire her away. All that said, Ciampi had AU playing championship ball in the late 80s and Nell Fortner had that one superb year with Bonner. That’s it. Everything else for AU women’s basketball has been somewhere between embarrassing to slightly above average, with ho-hum/mediocre being the mean. Unfortunately, though both SEC teams, AU and Tenn. are on different planets as far as expectations surrounding the women’s basketball programs.
  5. Ok here goes: ”Sweetie, sometimes in life when a player and his coach don’t love each other anymore, they have to separate and move away from each other. But it’s NOT YOUR FAULT.”
  6. To answer the OP’s question: not that serious. There’s other stuff I could say, but I won’t because it is just an opinion that would ruffle a lot of feathers, and I’m not about that. CJH did improve the team last year, but I do believe that next season is a make or break year for her. With Texas and OU entering the league, there’s no time for flailing about in any major sports now. Case in point: Tennessee firing Harper.
  7. Pretty sure we have Furman’s Pegues on lock-down as next year’s starting PG. He is an elite mid-major PG talent who I think would bring to the 1 what Broome brought to the 5, if not moreso.
  8. Donaldson A. Improved enough from last year to this year; B. Has enough of the thick-bodied toughness of a guy like Sears in him; C. Has height that I don’t think AH will ever sniff; which all contributed to me wanting him to stay at the expense of AH if it was a toss-up. Of course, BP might have known Furman’s Pegues was already a lock, so he was like “EENIE MEENIE MINEY MOE” between TD or AH for the backup PG position??? If AH gets stronger (by a lot), I could see him possibly having a higher ceiling. But it would almost be a coin flip. Going from this year’s production, I certainly would have tried to keep TD and cut AH loose.
  9. Announced on IG, he will be hitting the portal. Interesting. Hope these guys are moving along bc Bruce sat em down and told em that better guards are on the way. Tre Donaldson to enter transfer portal after two seasons with Auburn basketball Richard Silva Montgomery Advertiser AUBURN — After two seasons with Auburn basketball, Tre Donaldson has plans to move on. The 6-foot-3 point guard announced Wednesday in an Instagram post with Joe Tipton of On3 Sports that he intends to enter the transfer portal. Donaldson has been used predominantly as coach Bruce Pearl's backup point guard over the last couple of campaigns, spelling Wendell Green Jr. in 2022-23 and Aden Holloway in 2023-24. Donaldson did start 10 games last season, but Holloway started 25. A former three-star recruit in the Class of 2022, Donaldson originally committed to Auburn as both a football and basketball player before he opted to only focus on the latter; he was rated by the 247Sports Composite as a four-star safety out of Florida State University School in Tallahassee, Florida. Donaldson averaged 6.7 points on 47.1% shooting as a sophomore. He also added 3.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. His assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.29 in regular-season games against conference opponents ranked No. 11 amongst SEC players who played at least 210 minutes, per College Basketball Analytics. "You could argue (Donaldson) is maybe the most improved freshman to sophomore perimeter (player) that I’ve studied thus in far the league," Texas A&M coach Buzz Williams said after his team lost at Auburn on Jan. 9. Donaldson scored four points and dished six assists against the Aggies. Donaldson had a knack for playing well in March with the Tigers. His averages of 6.4 points, 2.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds weren't the most eye-popping figures in the world, but his 51.7% rate from the field and 76.9% efficiency from 3-point range in the seven postseason games he appeared in were impressive. "I think that both Tre and Aden have taken great care of the ball," Pearl said March 13. "They've understood our offenses, they play within their limitations (and) they're unselfish. But they both are threats to score. They've just done a really good job taking care of the ball and valuing possessions." Donaldson will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next program. 11. Absolutely. Very entertaining. These Iowa girls don’t hustle very well. They run pretty good stuff and of course Clark is a baller.
  12. About par for the course with Johnnie’s off-season roster retention record at AU. I thought Shaw was going to be a central piece to next year’s roster. The light bulb kinda came on for her in the Arky SECT win. Don’t know if the light bulb went off again in the next two dismal games lol? Hope the 2 incoming frosh guards have game that can immediately impact the W-L line.
  13. That’s exactly what Simon and Theodore said when Alvin committed to Dave.
  14. Great news, hope he can enjoy his retirement. Time to make a big leap forward a la the Myers hire.
  15. No one has actually answered the question in my OP, so I’ll start: SP comes across to me like slightly less blindly loyal and less diplomatic, while having more of a younger bro-lationship with recruits and players than the Papa-vibe BP brings. I think he obviously has seen what “works” from a schematic standpoint and what doesn’t. BP seems to indicate that SP does a good job scouting opponents, so he puts his time in and knows how to prepare a set of players for the task at hand. He seems less of a carny-barker than Bruce, which may not be needed now that the team is built up. For the record, I do think that AU should only target proven championship caliber HCs to replace BP.
  16. Would be no small miracle if he were available for AU to hire in 4-6 years.
  17. IF BP is able to largely influence the selection of his successor when he hangs it up in (possibly?) 4-6 years time, and he is able to get the AD to buy into his son SP getting a shot as the next AU HC, what do you think AU will be getting in that hire? Personality differences from BP, recruiting ability, coaching ability, etc? I’m not advocating for that to happen, just wondering what other fans would think if that did happen, and what AU would be getting.
  18. More like a super-intramural team, but I get it.
