This roster needs a real overhaul. I saw really serviceable pitching and 10+ innings of dead hitting, bad ball reads in the field, poor fundamentals. The effort seemed to be there, but the mental sharpness and talent/ability was not. Fitting way to end the Dean era.

I have watched many innings of AU softball lately and have yet to see them get a clutch hit. This lineup makes opposing pitchers look like World Cup aces.

Yes, he will be retained. It’s going to take a whole lot more than one disastrous in-conference campaign to cause John Cohen to fire one of his best friends in the world. That aside, CBT has built up enough credibility and goodwill at AU to withstand this sucka** season. I say all this not as my endorsement of retaining him, but as what the facts state.

Not sure. If she barrels full speed it’s probably a relatively bang-bang tag play at 2nd. If the 1st base coach did indeed tell her to go two, then that certainly wasn’t the wisest decision, but she didn’t help matters freezing between 1st and 2nd. She literally stopped and stalled.

Pitcher duel in game 2. It was B6 2 outs, bases loaded for AU. Bama put in a girl named Beaver and the AU batter just stood there and took the first 2 pitches right down the middle before swinging late through a 3rd pitch. I texted my AU buddy right before that AB started and was like “I don’t think I need to watch this AB to know what’s gonna happen.” I was right.

Why was our CF playing little league depth there on that last AB? I understand not camping out at the warning track with a guy on 3rd, but dang…

I’ve gotta think that if BP were willing to drop-kick KDJ to improve the roster, he would have done the same with CM had there been a better option out there to replace him? I think CM is kinda like a Horace Spencer effort and glue guy.

Why would we want another high point guard?

To me, WG3’s AU narrative would be completely different if he had made just half of the late game shots that either he or BP set up for himself. I don’t remember how many times we were in a GW FG opportunity and he just couldn’t make the big shot at the very end.

No idea, but I thought his decommitment from us largely stemmed from Wes Flanigan’s departure? I realize a lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then…

As an AU fan, I’m not “worried” that the Oatmeister has outclassed BP for AH’s services. I’m annoyed that barring injury, Oats is assured to get the improved AH over his dismal Freshman campaign that AU got rammed with. Would’ve improved here, too. Now the only fair thing is for Sears to skip on down to Lee County.

This. Transferring to the Turds is a pi** in the face to BP, who, by the way, played his a** far more than he should have as the season progressed. It isn’t BP or AU’s problem that he couldn’t adjust his physicality “up” or keep his head in the game as the season advanced. Oh well, not our problem now. I’m kinda surprised Oats wanted him after his showing this past season. Yeah, he has upside, but he’s not a long guard who can rise above and knock down over defenders.

Guy just won Mr. Basketball in Alabama as a Sophomore. Not sure if he will stick with Buckhorn through graduation; I assume he’ll transfer at some point to a basketball high school to maximize his NIL potential once he signs with a college. Wonder where we are re: his recruitment? I know it’s “early” for a thread, but we might as well keep track of this kind of in-state talent until either AU gets him or someone else does.
