I was kind of hoping Bama wins, Texas gets in over them knocking both of them out of the playoff. Now that the game has begun I just can't pull for Bama no matter how bad I hate GA.

You would almost have to plan on ignoring it to miss it. Glad Bama didn't score a TD. If they had im not sure Gary would have been able to contain himself. He sounds like a teenager on his first trip to the house of ill repute.

This right here is something that is maddening to me about college football. A multi billion dollar industry that is officiated by amateur officials. In the NFL this is called offensive interference more often than not. Several years ago LSU had an All American receiver, Josh Reed, who was a converted running back, that was a master of the push off. I said at the time that he'd never make it in the NFL because he would not get away with it there. Turns out he was pretty much a bust. Played 8 years, and caught 10 touchdowns, a far cry from his dominating college career. I swear if I'm coaching receivers in college football I'd first, and foremost teach them how to push the defender off to get separation. Until they decide to fix the pathetic officiating you would get away with it 80-90 % of the time.

I had high hopes for Sledge when he signed. Any human that big should be able to play football. I suspect however that most of these guys hitting the portal are being encouraged to look elsewhere.

One would assume that the new clock rules have a lot to do with defending fewer plays. Watching college football games this year has been a big change for the worse with the new clock rules. If a team is behind two touchdowns going into the 4th quarter it has become almost impossible to mount a comeback on many occasions. It has robbed much excitement from the game in my opinion.

The sad reality of yesterday that no one is saying is it was a stark revelation of how far this team has to go. We can sit here, and blame play calls, coaching, lack of effort, or motivation until we're blue in the face. The fact is that New Mexico State whipped us on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football. They consistently pressured Thorne only rushing four. That means five, and sometimes six guys couldn't block four. Our defensive line was pushed around all night as well. I've seen articles praising Kill's plan to play keep away from Auburn burning clock. While it was a good strategy, it would have never worked but for their ability to push our defensive front seven around like marshmallows. The only way we change it is to recruit enough big nasties on both lines.

Just came back to say I told everyone I could back in 2021 that we should hire Jeff Brohm from Purdue. Two years later he has Louisville ranked #10, and in the ACC championship game in his first year. Nobody ever listens to me😁
