  1. On the other forums, we call it "halftime adjustments and in game adjustments". You are right: we don't have a lot of counters or adjustments really. Our game has been run willy - nilly down court, move the ball to an open shot or go inside to Kessler which opens up perimeter shooting. We have no depth if the shot is contested (besides Jabari), if you shut down the paint area, we are not a threat to really score from the perimeter. Lastly, we have legs because we can roll out a lot of players who will play D. No offensive depth. That's who we are in a nutshell.
  2. Bruce explained why he allows his guys to shoot so many 3's even when the team is cold and he said "my guys give 100% on defense and that's nearly impossible to find in college. I tell them if you give me 100% on defense, I'll let you shoot your shot on offense." It must be said, the 3 is only Jabari's "shot". We don't have a three point game this year and since we don't, inside the 3 point line will be jammed packed and it will be our undoing. You can't win the NCAA championship if you don't have a balanced game.
  3. I suspect CBP has been wanting the team to work through the 3 point shooting slump and been green lighting this. Someone get to Western Union quick and send him a telegram - "it ain't working, time for plan B"
  4. Are we really burning up a thread arguing about a former player who will bring chaos, joy and controversy to an opponent's locker room? Man... Let's move on and break down Robbie Ashford vs. TJ Finley or something more relevant. I wish every former Auburn player well. If you want the real skinny, just message me. I have all the answers. I am an expert on Monday mornings.
  5. yeah, ok you are making a lot of sense, but unfortunately, I would say we don't really have our ideal rotation set to close out games. What are you thoughts on Green sitting the last 3-5 minutes? I believe he is just a wildcard or a box of chocolates - you don't know what you will get in crunch time. Thanks -
  6. I am not a BB expert but - 1. Shouldn't Green sit the last 4 minutes and let Zep play? Green is lost when pressured (Ark, UF and one other game I don't recall) and Zep is pretty solid with ball control. Also Green doesn't drive hardly at all. 2. Will the lob pass come back? I missed most of last night's game, but that seems to have dwindled into oblivion. 3. I loved how Bruce used a TO last night to solidify the lead and make sure everyone was on the same page to prevent an MSU comeback in OT. 4. Berman - shouldn't he be getting Flanigan's minutes? He generates some O, and will stretch opponent's D when he is outside the 3 pt line. No? He hasn't looked lost on D...maybe I am wrong. I will hang up and listen...
  7. inconsequential, but Auburn vs. Southern Miss in '84, my first year at Auburn. I had no family connections, so never saw a game as a kid or any others. This was the year we opened #2 in the country and lost to Miami (20-18) and then Texas the first two weeks...eeek, that was 'unfun'.
  8. The kid wants to make a splash....we have to let the player make his splash.
  9. Not to sling mud, but they have never had the number one class, nor consistently in the top 10. They were 6th last yr. And 4th in 2019...That is a pipeline of talent and they have a significant bluechip to recruit ratio to the likes they have NEVER had. Your point about them have not won anything in 50 yrs is valid. But the same can be said about those first couple of Dye teams (haven't won anything since '57). But the pendulum was swinging with talent and how the program was changing. Same at TAMU now. And Fisher does know how to coach - he outcoached our last coach 2 yrs ago when the talent was probably even (or we had the advantage). ..the pendulum has swung in their favor in a big way. Their "program" and the pieces they are assembling is what is alarming. This what I am saying. honestly, I HOPE I AM WRONG, and Fisher implodes somehow. If he wasn't yelling at Calzada every series or didn't get eaten up by the injury bug, they could have easily been in ATL. Now, since I am talking about programs taking huge steps forward - Ole Miss has killed it in the transfer portal and concerns me also. The SEC-W is changing rapidly.
  10. One quick comment: They may not be premier on the field regarding wins and losses. They have absolutely surpassed Auburn and LSU as a program and that scares me. I despise Jimbo, but consider their blue chip ratio and NIL performance (pipeline). Thus their pipeline of talent is more established and deeper. That worries the crap out of me. I consider TAMU premier and #2 in the west now. Ole Miss and their ability to land desired recruits (portal and HS kids) is worrisome also (especially portal transfers).
  11. You're the only one forgetting things. What is this thread about again?
  12. As soon as I read that name I thought, "Is that damn WR from Fla?" Honestly, I hated this guy. NOW - I love me some Hilliard!!!
  13. The man prefers curly fries to string fries. It was right after the resume bullets as a WR from UF. Read more closely.
  14. For sure, but the context was about how the players didn't quit down the stretch and played hard through the end of the season. And how they were a gnat's a$$ from beating bama and winning several more games, because they didn't quit. It wasn't about close games. We played Ga State early in the season.
  15. And think about it- we were a play away or coaches' decision or a mistake by a bama kid from upsetting them after dropping most of those games! They nearly beat Houston....0-5 sucks, but they never quit.
  16. I disagree and I will remove the emotion. Like you said, he was paid to recruit (and lie/negative recruit) against us. The man did his job and is a hell of a recruiter. I think he brought in Jameis Winston (from BHM ? ) to FSU. I could be wrong, but I think he did. I would absolutely welcome him as he could coach QBs and has done it, some (box checked). He is an absolutle beast on the recruiting trail. (box checked) He could be the OC - and develop his resume and we know Harsin is calling plays (box checked) He could be the lead recruiter for all the O players and maybe we get on these guys faster ( box checked) He is from Mobil (McGill Toolen? ) and would help us tremendously down there (box checked) We would be hurting a rival (TAMU ) (box checked) He just helped land the #1 class in the SEC/nation. He now has ties in Texas (box checked) He knows the SEC (box checked) That is a lot of boxes fellas.....I would rather him working for us and not against us. What did Sun Tzu say about your enemies?....
  17. If it is worth it's salt, it does.
  18. This....you nailed it. ..long time til A Day and August. The program could use some 'blind support' from the fan base for a few weeks. Not to be philosophical, but I think all of us are awfully quick to be keyboard warriors and post stuff that is often misinterpreted. Too bad there isn't a pizza joint nearby we could all meet in once a week. And if a real fight broke out, it might be even more entertaining! Could be fun -
  19. I have a theory on the Junior Day scheduling: I think bama jumped our date knowing we had a great day with the UK game scheduled that weekend. They knew they would garner the top kids. Harsin had a choice - compete against bama with a great date and attraction (UK game) or blink and move so as to maybe get the kids he wanted. I could be way wrong, but I think moving the date screwed us.
  20. Nailed it - it's called charisma, right? Bruce Pearl freaking mastered the transfer portal during year 1 because he has tons of energy and works that charisma selling his program. I think that 'salesman's bravado' or charisma is holding Harsin back. Not sure how he owns the room at a recruit's home or in a recruiting situation. Maybe he is awesome. I know this - you got sell your message and make it believable. This worries me the most about Harsin. I don't see a lot of charisma or comraderie as the O and D go onto the field - I don't see Harsin singling out a lot players and coaching as they come off the field. And that worries me. I looked at the head coaches last night in the SuperBowl and they have both showed a lot of charisma throughout the playoffs when the lights are brightest and they were engaged with players. Like it or not, those are players 'of today'. Kids are changing in the classroom and on the field. It's an adapt or die biz. Look at Mack Brown - he is not the same coach he was at Texas. Those are my concerns.
  21. Every professional should critically review their work and processes periodically, make necessary adjustments and refocus as necessary. There is nothing written between the lines. I am not trying to stir the pot, I promise.
  22. Good question: Podcasts that speak of or have recruiting segments. Case in point: in less than 48 hrs after winning the NC, Kirby Smart was in Phoenix City seeing those 3 D1 players that Pat Nix is coaching. That is what a "recruiting priority" looks like. Harsin has a reputation for spending a lot of time analyzing and choosing players to offer, then visiting and the process is dragged out a lot more slowly than the programs we are recruiting against. Hence, we are clearly communicating that we don't want them as badly as the coaches that saw them a month earlier or so forth....I know that may not be reality, but perception becomes reality in this cutthroat biz called recruiting. I heard another anecdote where Harsin sent an assistant to a state level award ceremony, but Kirby was there in person and I thought they said Saban was there. I could be wrong about Saban. Those are high vis, 'free' recruiting moments.
  23. Just a quick survey to gauge how folks feel Coach Harsin may or may not adapt, moving forward.
  24. Yeah, why develop that resume, work hand in hand with the HC on scheming the O, coaching QBs (again) and being the recruiting coordinator of all the offensive recruits? Like Jimbo Fisher is really developing D Craig... Silly, dumb move. We have no chance. Maybe we should shut down football and use the FB only complex for B Pearl so we don't have to build a BB practice facility. Hmmmm. If you haven't noticed, it won't be a full-on OC job: Harsin needs a QB coach and an assistant OC. He is betting on himself to pull the O out of the ditch.
