  1. He doesn't, but I got a funny feeling with his extent of coaching,,,,hold on, wasn't he QB coach at FSU when J Winston was there. Check me, but I think I am right.
  2. All the more reason to move on Craig! Craig just helped TAMU land a $29 mio class (supposedly). The man has seen how NIL can be leveraged and would fill many, many holes for Auburn - "checks a lot of boxes" while ripping away one of their top recruiters. I suspect with Calzone, they would mesh, and Auburn would own Mobile. Craig could also mentor Harsin on the recruiting trail. Harsin already is calling plays...Craig coaches QBs, helps scheme the O and lives out of a suitcase. The man just added TX to his resume of places he can recruit. Hellooooo? What is our biggest fear with Harsin? Everybody together, "recruiting big boy football." Did we not just see how Cristobal turned a putrid Miami class into something to build from with Tre Citizen and others? The landscape is gonna get tighter... D Craig is the smart hire. Convince me who would check more boxes.
  3. hold on...how do you honestly think we recruit at a higher level with the 2023 class than last yr with the easy negative recruiting that is about to take place for 10 months? I am not trying to throw rocks, but we are going to struggle against most D1 programs, not just against SEC schools. you heard how our junior day unfolded? we had ZERO recruits on campus for the MBB game vs UK. How is this possible?
  4. What was ADAG's quote, "Bryan Harsin brings Auburn hope." I wonder what his quote would be today about our football program's future.
  5. Now...I say this as an optimist: Harsin is halfway smart and could change. I doubt he does. Imagine if he could take some of that mule-ish tenancity and use it by recruiting from the front? Imagine if we have a play caller that really had a 4th and 1 mentality....Imagine if we had a staff that was working in unison... Maybe Harsin learns from this and does great things. Tubberville came out of the ashes pretty well for a bit. I know he had a lot more talent also. I am talking about stabilizing the program and becoming a strong recruiter.
  6. Yes I am. You know half of our receivers have never caught a ball in a college football game? HALF I used the phrase "dead man walking" earlier. And every coach in the south will easily win every worthy recruiting battle against Auburn. So yeah, I am hoping we hit mediocrity.
  7. For me; it's all about the recruiting. I spend 3 times more time glancing at recruiting each week than any other forum because I view that as our future. Our future is rarely about the X's and the O's; the HUNH once you cross the 50 or the incredible 2 seasons we had with Nick Marshall are exceptions. Recruiting is a program's lifeblood. I would like to wonder if we will do anything different this Spring, but we are talking about Harsin. Is there any chance he will take on 5-10 key recruits and go recruit them himself? Like Saban and Smart do? You know 'take the lead?' Any chance?

And I was foolish enough to think they were selling cookies. Can you tell I like to eat? I made a small donation. Sounds like a good organization.
  9. I saw what you did...you did not discount D Craig as HC. It's marinating and growing on you. You know he could put together a staff of recruiters and attract talent in AL. He has coached at what Auburn, LSU, TAMU and FSU. There might be another I am forgetting. He could keep the assistants that have proven to get it done on the recruiting trail. He has seen for a decade what an SEC HC has to do. I don't know much about him, but his resume is similar to D Sweeny's when he took over Clem The new coach is gonna be hamstrung on coaching salaries/budget. DC would do it for a fraction of an experienced coach and incentivize the heck out of him. That man could quickly right the recruiting side of things and save the 2023 recruiting class. Who else can do that? KS? GC? Bwahahaha Not sure John Gruden could save the 2023 class after our junior day. I would sign up for the DC experiment before I would hire a retread. At least we would have talent.
  10. I think it is the out of the box kind of thinking that we need to make ourselves attractive to the 2023 class (which supposedly is deep in AL - and we are behind, way behind again). We can't hire a retread, hire a stable staff and attract the talent. Those three don't go together. Kirby, Nick, Kiffen, Jimbo - they can all win those battles against a retread HC. Heck - we would lose 7/10 times to UT right now with a retread. Need to think recruiting first I think.
  11. For you? Ok, I wouldn't make that deal for just anyone. Just sayin'
  12. Considering we have 3 former players on staff right now (has Zac E bolted?), he could probably keep those guys. The potato boys would be gone...DC has coached QBs and WR - He has got to have a ton of contacts in the SEC - coaching wise. You know he knows every HS football stadium north of Orlando in our recruiting zone and has been recruiting TX. I am telling you there may be some merit to this. He could lock down Mobile and attract talent. Those are two things we have not done since...since...2013? Heck we did not capitalize after 2013. You get my point. 2 yr deal - $6 mil with incentives for 6 wins, 7wins, 8 wins, etc. a head coaching job - I would guess the man would have as good of a chance as anyone else someone could toss out there. And he could probably keep 2 of our best recruiters on staff. Think about it - who is gonna make up ground on recruiting faster that DC and Caddy and Zac, all working together? It ain't gonna be a retread HC Just let it marinate for a little.
  13. Not really I don't think. I don't know the man, but he has an interesting profile and Auburn is a tough spot with the coaching carousel about out of quarters. It's not like we have a ton of money to go lure away great OC and DC the way Miami just did, paying buyouts. He could be a bridge for us with a decent contract, with crazy incentives.
  14. Biographical details Born April 19, 1974 (age 47) Mobile, Alabama Playing career 1994–1997 Auburn 1998–2001 Carolina Panthers 2002 Indiana Firebirds 2002* Washington Redskins 2002* Ottawa Renegades Position(s) Quarterback Coaching career (HC unless noted) 2003 Mattie T. Blount HS (AL) (assistant) 2004 LSU (GA) 2005 Miami Dolphins (STA) 2006–2007 Tuskegee (QB) 2008–2009 South Alabama (WR) 2010–2012 Florida State (QB) 2013–2015 Auburn (co-OC/WR) 2016 LSU (WR) 2017 Florida State (QB/RC) 2018–present Texas A&M (WR) The burning question is could he hire a decent OC? I have s sneaky feeling he could. The man has been coaching in the south/SEC almost a decade.
  15. I hear you, but does he attract talent? The other parts give you credit. Also, he would split fanbase more than we are now.
  16. Stay with me on planet Earth here. Not sure he has ever recruited anyone. Especially in the SEC
  17. losing record coaching 3 different programs and is driving a desk job at U of Ark; if I were him, I would stay in Fayettechill
  18. The problem nobody has given much credence to Auburn would have to payoff a lot of assistant coaches to leave and hire a new HC and give him a very tight budget to hire staff. THAT IS GONNA BE IMPOSSIBLE as programs slide into Spring Ball. So who could we hire that might fit the bill and keep a staff together for a season while he sorts through this mess? I have an idea and nobody would agree with me, but he fits the bill.
  19. So let me just set up the ideal profile: someone who knows the SEC as a coach (maybe a player) someone who would attract talent has recruited the SEC successfully has recruited against our rivals would be a bonus (not required) has a lot of coaching connections - been a coach for a while prefer a younger coach, us old guys don't seem to attract as much talent would be nice to have been a coordinator, but Dye and Sweeny were not coordinators (among others) Bout right? We missed the coaching carousel, let's not make this list "Mission Impossible"
  20. I hear you, but I see it differently. I thought I heard second hand Chiz was not a big fan of NIL and ironically, I think he jumped back into coaching at UNC as the DC. I may have that wrong, I am home with the flu, so I don't trust anything I am reading or thought I read. Heck, I can't even remember what I said to Dr Gouge when he asked for my input earlier.
  21. Not throwing rocks at you, but were you an Auburn fan during the Chiz era, especially 2011, 2012? We were anything but stable. I give him his due, but let's keep it real.
  22. Yup, players than probably didn't make the two deep roster at their own (non SEC) program. Some SEC kids, but ...I'll stop there. Not feeling so positive today.
