  1. Does this create an interest in Tanner Bailey? Not sure if it’s too late to even pursue him, but it sure feels like we need an additional QB to go with D. Davis and Geriner (much love to Finley, but I’m nowhere near sold that he’s a starter). Bailey is an AU legacy with supposedly a ton of upside. Not sure that he’d want to join a class with Geriner, but after decommitting from Oregon, he doesn’t appear to have a backup plan.
  2. Thanks, Eagle-1. Wow! There’s a big difference, imo, between a missed call and one the refs don’t miss, they see the penalty but choose to help determine the outcome of the game. Wow. So not a missed call, a flat out ignored call. Now I know. The 4Q drive that had multiple missed calls to benefit uat, had multiple, egregious, as plain as the nose on your face, ignored calls. Again, I apologize for getting off topic, but really appreciate y’all getting me up to speed under the circumstances. Not expecting it, but still holding an outside hope Jeff Grimes is our next OC.
  3. Thanks, @AUWent. That would be interesting with their HC this season having already bolted for Baton Rouge.
  4. Two part post. First, I’m watching the the Big 12 championship and I have to think all hope of Jeff Grimes to Auburn are a pipe dream. Frankly, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t offered a HC position after this season. I’m happy for him, but personally bummed. I got to know Jeff and his family a little bit when he was at AU. Great coach, better person. With Baylor currently up on Ok St, it feels more and more likely that bama sneaks into the CFP regardless of the SECC outcome. I hope I’m wrong. Second part, honest question. I apologize for bringing it up now because it’s going to sound like sour grapes. (In short, it’s been a week. We had to put my mother in law in Hospice last Saturday afternoon. She passed late Wednesday. Her funeral was yesterday.) So I’m playing catch up on our Tigers. I watched the Iron Bowl uninterrupted last night. UAT’s 4th quarter drive to take the game to OT had a heckofa lot of missed calls. I saw the article from Auburn Wire outlining the many missed/ignored calls on another thread. There are blown calls and there are blown calls. Were neither of Young’s throwaways to no one while in the pocket intentional grounding? Did I miss an update on what constitutes intentional grounding? If even one of the two penalties is called, I think we win the game and they have no chance to make the CFP with a loss today. An Iron Bowl victory is always sweet, but eliminating all hope of them making the CFP would’ve been icing on the cake. Not to mention a win, in that atmosphere, would’ve been a boon to recruiting.
  5. Grimes, Jeff Grimes Jeff Grimes serves as Baylor's offensive coordinator and tight end coach. He joined Dave Aranda's staff in January 2021. A 28-year coaching veteran, Grimes, who led the BYU offense from 2018-20, was named a finalist for the 2020 Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach. A native of Garland, Texas, Grimes directed a high-powered offense at BYU in 2020 that finished its season ranked in the top 15 in 10 different statistical categories including scoring (3rd, 43.5 ppg), total offense (7th, 522.2 ypg) and passing offense (8th, 332.1 ppg). The 2020 Cougars tied for the national lead in yards per play at 7.84, and led all of FBS in plays of 30 or more yards with 45. Overall, BYU scored 40 or more points nine times in 12 games. Led by All-American offensive lineman Brady Christensen, the BYU offensive line allowed only 12 sacks in 12 games, the eighth-best per game average in the country, and helped the Cougars to the fourth-most rushing touchdowns nationally with 34. Running back Tyler Allgeier rushed for 1,130 yards, the ninth-best total in BYU history and the eighth-best total by a FBS player for the season. Overall, BYU had four offensive players named to All-America teams in 2020. In addition to his time as a coordinator, Grimes has extensive experience as one of the country’s top offensive line coaches. Since 2000, 17 offensive linemen that played under Grimes have been selected in the NFL Draft including three first rounders
  6. Building up the program? He has the 12th or 13th ranked recruiting class in the conference. He took the same team the prior regime got six conference wins with to six wins total, three of those being play for pay. After starting off 6-2, what should have been 7-1, Harsin regressed.
  7. Well said. There have been times this season, Mason’s defense against PSU, Bobo’s offense against A&M, and many other times that I’ve thought, that’s a gut punch, but I guess they need time to on the same page with CBH. After yesterday’s leadership defining meltdown, and with recruiting circling the drain, Mason and/or Bobo have to go. If Harsin waits too long, AU will be in the lowest tier of the conference with a Herculean challenge to get back on track.
  8. I woke up this morning still numb. Yesterday has all the makings of a culture defining loss. I’d, like most of y’all, had so much faith after the change from Malzahn to Harsin. There are so many awful things about yesterday. The potential the game had to help bolster an anemic recruiting class, the fact that the loss was to one of the historically worst teams in the SEC with far less resources…. There was no reason this year’s team should have been a top to bottom rebuild. Where do we go from here? Are we going to languish for 4-5 years in mediocrity near the bottom of the conference until Harsin/Mason/Bobo are bought out and we start from scratch again?
  9. It’s games like this, seasons like this, that I let the effort of college kids play a role in my happiness/mood, that I know, I know, that I have to shut it down. I’ve bled AU for so many decades, I just don’t know how.
  10. I agree, but how? My heart can’t take this. Up 28-3 and we’re getting owned, by Cow State of all teams. Any mo we could have established with a convincing win today, next weekend and a solid IB showing is so shot. This game will hurt for a long time. It’s freaking miss st!! Last season we lost to USCe, Gus had to go. This season, we lose to the cow bells? Recruiting is crap. Are we just destined to join the conference bottom feeeders?
  11. No, it would more than suck. It would be a major indictment on AU Football. Saban created a culture and quickly built on it. With Harsin & co. Last in recruiting (in the SEC), we will have nothing to build on. This 2021 team may have the best personnel Harsin/Bobo/Mason ever coach.
  12. I’m just….wow, wow. Are we the new FSU / tennessee?
  13. All right, I’ve tried to stay positive and attribute our awful start to a PSU hangover, but at 17-9 mid 2nd half, I’m concerned. The talent is there for AU. There is no excuse if we lose this game other than p*ss poor preparation and play calling (both defense and offense). Already tired of Mason’s schemes.
  14. Whoa, same team, same team! Could I have worded my comments better after cut and pasting stats? In retrospect, obviously. And apologies for the delayed response but I’ve been held up for a few days in the hospital. I certainly don’t want to stir up anything with another response. The reason I wanted to reply is because my intention WAS to post how fired up I am about Jarquez Hunter. Not only his stats, but his work ethic and the way he runs. Yeah, there’s our competition the first two games, but he’s exceeded all (of my) expectations. I’m thrilled Hunter is an Auburn Tiger! You have almost 30,000 likes (thumbs up). While I’ve been a part of AU for decades, I haven’t been a part of the AU Family that long. This site has been great to follow the thoughts of fellow alumni/fans/friends. I know you’re in tune with the goings on behind the scenes than I am. Selfishly, if for depth purposes only, I would like to have kept one of the three (or four if we count Barrett) in the AU fold. I did not realize the coaches encouraged these guys to play elsewhere. Nor did I know that Harold Joiner had a concussion. He’s a guy I personally wish the previous staff had given more opportunities. Finally, as for the Auburn creed, I do believe in Auburn and love it! This is one of the very few posts I’ve included the creed at the bottom, and that was due to how excited I am about Hunter. A largely overlooked guy, that the original thread post does very well at capturing, who is proving to be a Dude. I sure hope he keeps it up this weekend, and throughout the season to follow Tank as another Auburn RB to become SEC freshman of the year. War Eagle!
  15. While Hunter is doing his thing, here’s a quick look through two games at 2020 AU running backs that transferred, either giving up on Auburn, Coach Harsin, or themselves: 4* D. J. Williams: 0 carries for 0 yards. Recently promoted to third string 4* Harold Joiner: 3 carries for 12 yards. No receptions. 4* Mark-Antony Richards: 4 carries for 24 yards. No receptions. I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work. I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully. I believe in honesty and truthfulness, without which I cannot win the respect and confidence of my fellow men. I believe in a sound mind, in a sound body and a spirit that is not afraid, and in clean sports that develop these qualities. I believe in obedience to law because it protects the rights of all. I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all. I believe in my Country, because it is a land of freedom and because it is my own home, and that I can best serve that country by "doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with my God." And because Auburn men and women believe in these things, I believe in Auburn and love it.
  16. Good time for a pick six here. Would help save some of the second half secondary lapses
  17. He does. He needs a few completions to help his in game confidence. Then I see him playing to his talent. I remember him sulking on the sideline after he was pulled last year from AU’s beatdown of lsu….The cameras kept going to him. He has to get that goldfish memory coach Lasso talks about.
  18. We really do. I’m impressed on a lot of fronts, but none as much as the performance of our OL. Pray we stay healthy across the line this season and our performance on the field results in Coach Friend landing 5-6 coveted OL recruits
  19. I’m not concerned about this kid decommitimg, or any one off kid in particular per se. But for y’all to post face palm reactions when we are 14 out of 14 in the SEC and 75th in the country in recruiting, heck yeah I’m worried. Last place in the SEC with what, 5 pledged recruits and no palpable interest from true SEC caliber dudes? Nobody on the O-line. Have we ever been in this position? What am I missing that doesn’t have y’all concerned?
  20. Things really not looking good when the 475th player in the country, the 38th rated player at his position, decommits from the last place team in the SEC and 75th rated team in the country, recruiting wise. Come on, AU! CBH has some monumental work to do, in a hurry. You can’t build your own brand without players.
