  1. Freeze wasn’t my first choice, but then I’m in the medical field, not athletics. What I did recognize was that Freeze was a man who had once been successful in the SEC, then had it taken away. He was a man in search of redemption. Auburn was in much the same situation; a once proud program fallen on hard times. It is the perfect combination. I see great things in our future.

Apart from the obvious plays- the muff and 4th and 31, the other play that truly stands out is our 2nd down play inside the 10 yard line. It’s the one where Thorne threw to the back of the end zone and the WR let it go through his hands. To me, that was as big of a deal. We catch that, now we’re discussing whether to go for 2 and make it a 9 point game with 6 minutes to play, or kick the PAT and make it an 8 point game. When we settled for the fg, I texted my buddy and said- “I’ve seen this movie before. 27-24. Don’t know how, but book it.” Very proud of the way the guys fought last night. There were mistakes made by the coaches and players last night. Once we get better players, do they make the same mistakes? Once we get better players, do the coaches?
  3. I said the exact same thing. I didn’t figure we’d win. The talent gap is too wide. I’d rather lose by 21 than THAT way.
  4. This! We have had a disastrous run for several years- from Gus’ refusal to recruit linemen or a QB that fit his system to Harsin’s refusal to recruit, well anybody, we are like a program who was given a penalty just short of death. I’ve said this before, but, when Freeze was hired, we talked all offseason about how long it will take him to right the ship, how bare the cupboard was. The general consensus was that we wanted to see us play competitively, and we have. Georgia barely escaped with a win. I’ll take that over the 30 point losses they hung on Gus. I think that, when we see the orange and blue uniforms on Saturday, the AU helmets, we expect them to play like our past teams, ie, like our historical top 15 status. We forget that our roster is basically a 1-AA one, thanks to past recruiting failures. Our nostalgia overrides our reality. I am cool with where we are. We have improved since the QB carousel stopped. I like our chances against Arky, NM St, and I think we take Bama to the wire. Unlike the Gus years, I think we’ll also win a bowl game. Get a good recruiting class, and we’re off. We’re on the path to a return to form. It’s just gonna take some time.
  5. I agree with all of your observations. It’s hard to truly judge our QBs’ performances due to a lackluster O line and receivers who consistently drop passes. is Holden worse then 9 and 1? Who knows? He was obviously pretty good to get an SEC football scholarship. QBs don’t get this far without being able to throw the ball. They don’t just forget how to throw the ball, either- unless the come to Auburn, apparently. If I’m Holden, and I hear Coach talk about going to the portal for a QB, I’m not happy. Watching a ton of college football over the years, it amazes me how some colleges prepare their backup QBs. If QB1 goes down, QB2 comes in slinging, running the entire offense. Why are we so restrictive? I understood the Gus era because he was paranoid. I thought Brother Hugh would be more of a gunslinger.
  6. Looks like they’re making it more like the pro game. I wish they’d leave it alone. Of course, I wish we had the game we had 20-30 years ago. I agree on the commercials, though. Run it like soccer. Commercial breaks at halftime or at the end of a quarter.
  7. Yeah there was. She went to school with them, and is still friends with them on Facebook.
  8. Guess we’ll see if he’s tough or not…
  9. Muscle Shoals Trojan. My wife is a Hazelwood Golden Bear.
  10. It’s great to see such love to UNA! I also am an alumnus, getting both my Bachelor’s and Masters from there; and ALSO grew up in the Shoals.
  11. What a great game- my junior year in high school. I was dating a Bama fan at the time. We didn’t watch the game together, but we did go out that night. She was bummed, and I was on cloud nine.
  12. Gary Danielson pushing hard for them. Shameless Bammer.
