  1. This is one if the most off base posts I've seen in a long time.
  2. It's getting brought up again cause we're watching our rival go to the Elite 8 led by the guy we could have had. It's not rocket science...instead you want to divert to some random hypothetical not applicable to the moment like there isn't some giant tournement going on where this guy is killing it every game. You can discuss your random hypothetical in the offseason. Half the people here still think there isn't any issue with how and who BP has been recruiting guard wise.
  3. Because it's the classic case of what could have been had BP recognized Sears' talent. It's been shared on this board that Sears wanted and possibly preferred to be at Auburn. The fact we didn't recruit him at all might be one of BP's biggest mistakes and oversights. BP has little control over Shariffe or Thor staying. He DID have control over recruiting Sears, and didn't do it.
  4. Well in that case let me take it all back... My criticism is not unfair. And if fair critique and criticism pushes him to retire, than it probably is time for him to do so. Auburn will be fine if makes a quality hire after the foundation BP built. Just pray to God that his son doesn't replace him.
  5. Bruce comes across a bit like a parent of a spoiled child who's antics finally got him in trouble. Now he's mad at everyone for being upset, but not taking the time to realize it was HIS responsibility to shape behavior on the court. And there were plenty of warning signs when it came to CBM's behavior prior to the Yale game. Instead Bruce seems more interested in making excuses for CBM, much like a parent might for their spoiled child. The refs shouldn't have called it a flagrant 2, it was retaliatory, he feels really sorry, etc. While the accountability is mentioned, but more as some added caveat instead of the main point.
  6. Hey, a man can evaluate the trajectory of a situation and make adjustments. But even with him as my profile pic, i was plenty critical of him even during the Jabari year and before, specifically for how he recruited guards. Just ask a few of my haters. But I still love your gifs.
  7. Maybe some Auburn fans can finally wake up to the fact that BP isn't the end all be all for auburn basketball. I'm not saying we need to fire the man. Just stop worshiping the ground he walks on, stop being afraid that life without him means we are doomed back to irrelevency, and that we have to appease his every wish and demand.
  8. Especially when he could have taken more overt steps to correct CBM's behavior during the season when something could be done about it. CBM may have committed the infraction and feels guilty, but the fault really lies with Bruce.
  9. Aw fifty, that hurts...I'm inconsolable.
  10. And yet, I seem to avoid drifting into name calling unlike the white knight defender of the forum over here. I'll leave you alone cause this almost feels unfair.
  11. I submit the above as evidence. You shouldn't be chiding anyone on civil retorts 😂
  12. Rich coming from you and some of the retorts I've seen you give to fellow Auburn fans on the political forum.
  13. Auburn does not owe Bruce so much that he gets his son the HC gig. Auburn took the chance on BP when his stock was at its lowest, then rewarded him by making him one of the highest paid coaches in the sport. It's allocating more resources to basketball than it ever has. If BP wants his loyalty to Auburn contigent on nepotism, then let him do what he wants elsewhere if that's what he desires.
  14. Thats exactly what you said. But ok 😆
  15. You're right. Better to make a multi year millions of dollar gamble to find out instead of thinking about the situation and making a few inferences first.
  16. I'm saying this based on his comments and nepotism generally working out bad throughout history. Some call it logic.
  17. If Auburn hires Steven Pearl they deserve the disaster they would have coming.
  18. Let's just hire will wade and complete our image as redemption U for cheating coaches. Who would be on this final four list that would come to Auburn? The only one I could see who's currently at a school that makes it possible to hire them and isnt about to retire is Dusty May (FAU)
  19. Calipari came out in an interview and pretty much admitted he was going to stop recruiting a ton of freshman.
  20. A few free throws wasn't going to change the prevailing opinion on our sub par PG play, which is pretty universally agreed upon, going on near 5 years now. Regardless if we won or not.
  21. I can confidently say a few things. Bruce is what's best for Auburn AND our recent struggles the past few years are directly the result of the guards he has gone after and secured. Our recent history might look totally different had he secured Mark Sears and Trey Alexander, both extremely attainable targets that are tearing it up in the sweet 16 for their respective teams right now. So it is on Bruce. I hope he pulls his head out when it comes to guards soon.
  22. I'm as critical of Bruce as anyone on here, but Gus wasn't even close to winning the SEC in his last few years. Bruce just finished one game back of the regular season title and won the SEC tournement. I'm as upset as anyone about our recent NCAA tourney struggles, and Bruce makes plenty of mistakes I hope he rectifies, but he's far from Gus.
  23. Thata not what I said at all. But if you're going to change my argument to better fit your response, there's no point in continuing it. Because anything I say you will tell me what I 'really' mean to fit your narrative. And I got enough of that on the horrendous political forums to know no one wins in that type of discussion.
  24. I think you're mischaracterizng my view of Basketball. Its a bit unfair to say my view of CBM necessitates a desire for old fashioned emotionless slow basketball. Thats not true at all. What I dont like are actions like CBM hooking a player to fall on top of him as he shoots a three to get a foul, which if i recall, he got a tech for. That's not emotion, that's calculated dirty basketball. I was pretty vocal about his style of play way early on in the season, not simply when it cost us. But now that it has cost us, you want to tell me I would just wait till it did to justify how I feel. The other way of looking at it was I was right in the concern that I voiced. There's no way to prove his pov one way or another definitively, and ultimately our discussion will have no affect on his standing with the team. But I appreciate the conversation.
  25. I agree with most of what you said. I only disagree with his prior history not meaning anything. I dont know what's said to him, but because of the frequency of his issues, I'm taking a logical leap in reasoning that he's not always the victim. And that matters, because it changes how you view what he did, from a victim of a heat of the moment situation to a habitual instigator who seeks out this kind of situation and then escalates it. Now the argument about whether it's a good thing to have someone like that on your team or not is a different topic. I think we disagree there, too, but I understand where you're coming from for that argument. Even in that case, CBM has to learn to control his actions even MORE if he sees his role as an instigator. I just see that as uneeded distractions. You can inspire and rally the team without risking so many technicals and flagrants.
