Lior Berman Plays the National Anthem
keeperoftheplains replied to aubiefifty's topic in AU Basketball Forum
Love me some Lior Berman. Not a fan of his interpretation of the national anthem. -
My hope is that Mr. Dior turns his life around and becomes a wonderful husband and father some day. I also hope he finishes his college career at some place other than Auburn University.

Probably see uats new arena fast tracked now.

Decade? Try century. That's not an exaggeration. -
The turds paid $200K for an illiterate, unproven, high school defensive lineman 25 years ago. $1 million for an All-American basketball player is not a stretch. At all.

One of my favorite AU players of all time, Malik Dunbar. Dude could jump out of the gym.

And UConn had a -19 point margin of victory over Creighton to go along with two additional losses. That UCLA team was 30-0. These comparisons of "facts" don't prove anything other than people have different opinions. -

I'd take the 1952 Hickory team over UConn 2024 all day long. -

These conversations are fun thought exercises and no opinion can be proven. However, the notion that somehow the human body has evolved to become more athletic in the last 50 years is just availability bias. The nutrition is better (in general), the equipment is better, and the medical care is much better. But the athletes themselves? Not so much. One of the major reasons that modern basketball players appear to be able to do so many amazing things is because of the way the game is officiated (and by extension, coached). When you're allowed to put your hand under the ball and move it around your handles look amazing. A "step back jumper" was a turnover when I played. I could go on and on. You don't get the sense of how good some of these teams of the past are by looking at old videos on YouTube. The greatest college football team I ever witnessed with my own eyes was Nebraska 1995. If you ask someone younger than 40 I can almost guarantee you that will not be the answer they give. You know, because athletes. So based on the basketball that I've watched since the 1970's, the 2024 UConn team is not in my top 5. Your mileage may vary. -

Wooden's 1972 team didn't lose a game and had a 30+ point margin of victory for the entire year. That team had Bill Walton and Jamaal Wilkes. -

These conversations are never ending because the response is always "A team from 19XX would never compete with todays athletes". I'll just say that there were teams in the past that were much more impressive against their competition than UConn this year. Take your pick from one of Wooden's teams with Walton or Jabbar. Smith's team with Jordan. UNLV with Larry Johnson and on and on. -

Is this sarcasm? UConn 2024 the greatest college team of all time? -

bammer would pay him more to play one more year at uat than he would get playing in the Gatorade League on a two-way. That's the benefit. -

I'd take that trade all day long. Sears and Broome would be a buzzsaw. -

Maybe so. I'll come back here and eat crow if someone posts a draft projection that has Sears going in the first round (by any site that doesn't have roll **** on the page). -

Sears is nowhere near the first round. He is small for the NBA and not super athletic. There's always someone that will say "well what about XYZ?". I'm not saying that Sears can't make a roster in the NBA but no GM is going to spend first round money on him. Sears might be the next Chris Paul but I really doubt it. My guess is that Captain Douchebag will empty the bank to keep him at UAT. -

If AH stays at pg and Sears returns then he'll see the floor a lot less than he did at AU. -

Not sure what happened. It was an article about JT scoring 20 against Cleveland. It also mentioned Chuma and Okoro. -

It's a middle finger to BP. I was a supporter of AH all year when many were dogging him (and deservedly for the most part). However, there's no way to spin this. Just a low, low character move. -

Kessler is being wasted in Utah. I don't know what Will Hardy is trying to do with that roster. It's just all over the place. -

Thor would have been a star at AU. Too bad he didn't stick around. As for Okeke, I don't see where he would land if/when Orlando let's him go. Hopefully he was wise with his money and is set for life. -
2026 5* SF Caleb Holt (Buckhorn HS - HSV)
keeperoftheplains replied to tigeraddikt's topic in AU Basketball Forum
DJ played at Buckhorn so maybe he knows some folks on Winchester Rd that could put in a good word for BP. Fun fact: I scored 4 points against Buckhorn in 1983. I would've had 6 if there had been a three point line 🤣 -

AU doesn't have a great track record getting the top players in AL. I hope this time is different.
