The DB to DE move is classic Ellis. Interesting game to try it IMO, Spurrier has good blocking RBs and he uses them well in the backfield, and that's not what a pass rusher with a less than lineman's bod needs to see.

Yep, classic Ellis. Losing a world beater at rush DE- our only one- right before the season and losing a senior, multi-year starter at safety very early in the season, yet finding ways to get creative with the personnel and fielding a far better defense than we've since since 2007. The crazy ole Ellis, what a hoot.

Claaaaasic ole Ellis. Utilizing his personnel and giving a guy that's not contributing a chance to make an impact. Classic.

It's a zero risk move. Right now, we are playing a 3-man rotation at DE (Lambert, President, and Owens... in that order). In order to gin up a pass rush, we've moved Daniel back to his best position and the place where his future lies. He was a difference making inside rusher last year, and actually led the team in QB pressures at this point last year (Ford overtook him about now). Letting Daniel move inside meant we needed to find a way to fill his snaps on the edge (down to about 20 per game at this point). That likely means Cass and King getting some time on the edge, and it may mean more of the 3-3-5 where Lambert is the only true DE that plays (Wright and Adams are the other guys playing the edge in that formation).

Classic Ellis. Looking at a problem and actually trying to fix it by thinking outside the box. Kooky fella, that Ellis.
