StatTiger 3,188
Though Nick Marshall was never a polished passer, I always thought Gus Malzahn and Rhett Lashlee obtained the most of Marshall's abilities. The 2014 Auburn pass-offense finished at No. 8 nationally in pass-efficiency. The Tigers were also No. 8 nationally in conference-game action compared to all the other FBS teams in conference play. Breaking it down... Efficiency by Downs: 1st down: 71st nationally 2nd down: 2nd nationally 3rd down: 4th nationally * I do believe that Jeremy Johnson will be far more efficient throwing on first down but can he replicate the efficiency rankings established on 2nd and 3rd downs? Efficiency by Quarters: 1st quarter: 18th nationally 2nd quarter: 8th nationally 3rd quarter: 58th nationally 4th quarter: 7th nationally * The third-quarter was Auburn's least productive down on offense during 2014. Of the 461 points scored during the season, only 18.6% came during the third-period. Auburn's lack of efficiency throwing the ball during the third-period, likely was a major contributor to the low scoring production.
triangletiger 1,599
It seems as though coming out flat after halftime has been a problem for us the last few years.
AURex 2,016
Thanks for the stats, Stat. The numbers substantiate that frustrating 3rd quarter slump problem that we've seen too often. How much of that has been due to our opponents (defensive adjustments at halftime and offensive adjustments to better exploit Auburn's defense) vs execution lapses on Auburn's part. Here's hoping that we'll see more consistency in the coming season.
