It reminds me of the timeline of the world that follows the spiraling pedestrian ramp at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.  Such visual presentations made to scale are very useful for providing perspective.

I love xkcd. The guy has a hard science background and really shows his work.

Nice cartoon, Ben. Question; what are the "best case scenario's" assumptions for immediate, massive actions to limit emissions?  The "optimistic scenario's" assumptions?

Given the penchant of humans to not sacrifice their personal comfort for the greater good, in your opinion, how likely will these scenarios be implemented?

It is interesting to note that the world population started to increase rapidly starting about the same time as the recent increase in temps.  I know the population does not increase the CO2 due to the natural carbon cycle, but there are a lot more consumers in the world.imagepng
