Appears that A police officer was ambushed and shot by a criminal, The Good Samaritan who witnessed it pulled his own firearm and killed the Criminal Shooter, but the Good Samaritan was then shot and killed by other responding officers who apparently mistook him for the original shooter. Criminal, original Officer and the good Samaritan all died. Everyone has a constitutional right to own a gun and in many places to carry one in public However: In many places Police are also empowered and trained to shoot someone anytime they feel threatened or fear that a gun someone else has might be used to shoot them. We see this in other different situations too where people are routinely killed by police for holding objects that the police believe might be a gun Ex(water gun, cell phone); or if a subject is putting down a gun by orders of the police, he can be shot and killed while putting it down because a cop was afraid of the movement he was making. Do we accept that gun ownership comes with an increased risk of death by cops, or do we require Cops to better analyze situations before employing deadly force, even if that may put officers at increased risk in some situations. AUDub 11,160
The problem is too many damned guns. Don't know how many times I can reiterate. The police are human and they **** up within human parameters in this example.
