AUesquire 1
I couldn't get the page to open. Is this the kid from Chattanooga or somewhere in that area? I never have a problem signing 300+ lb. DLs with Juco experience. If I recall, he wasn't rated very high out of HS but it's good to see AU make a commitment to the young man and stay with him while he has to take an alternate route to the big leagues. Welcome aboard, Mr. Smith.
80Tiger 904
I believe this kid was highly rated out of H.S in Tennessee. He was AU commit from get go even though Tenn. wanted him bad.
Proud Tiger 4,261
He was highly rated......the 2A Lineman of the Year as a senior at Tyner Academy in Chattanooga, TN. He was a teammate of HS All American Demonte Bolden who signed with Tenn. but Smith beat him out for Lineman of the Year. Smith was rated in the T0p 25 linemen in the country by Tom Lemming. kingfish 73
Based on past performance, Tuberville's ranking of a player has significantly more value than that of recruiting services. CTT must have a high ranking of G Smith to offer him a scholarship and stay with it. TN gets individuals that are highly rated by the recruiting services, and we continue to read about them during the off season due to their continual run-ins with the law. I know I'm putting more into this matter than what was stated of implied by anyone, but I just wished to add a few comments. WAR EAGLE!!!
AUesquire 1
You are correctamundo on CTT's evaluations of players there fish. I trust his judgment far more than any of the so called experts. My whole point was just that I recalled some rating services ranking him low and CTT still signed him originally and stuck with him after he didn't qualify. Hope he has several years at AU clogging up the middle and making life miserable for opposing players.
