As much as we love to believe that we are either Left or Right in this country, many people do not view the world so ideologically. They don't like either party. But they do insist on competence.

Well, it is getting to the point where I wonder if the Dems really want to win elections if they have to, you know, have to actually govern or make real policy.

Screaming Russians!!! or "We are not trump!!!!" is going to win elections in only the Bluest of Districts.

Statistically, America is becoming more partisan than it's ever been, 

Only about 10% of political elections in America are actually 'toss ups'. 

Due to partisanship and gerrymandering the vast majority of political offices belong either to the Dems or the Repubs without much chance of the other party getting elected no matter who's running. The R or the D next to your name matters a lot more than a candidates character or policy beliefs in most elections. 

There are occasional exceptions like the article points out however.
