Chicken Hawks get one more chance!

For those Chicken Hawks aged 35-42 who say they'd go if they could, you might get a chance now! I'll let my Drudge lovin' cuzin know! Of course, he'll have to drop 75 lbs. first, unless they change that standard, too.

Pentagon seeks higher age limit for recruits

Jul 22, 11:20 AM (ET)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Faced with major recruiting problems sparked by troop deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Pentagon has asked Congress to raise the maximum age for U.S. military enlistees from 35 to 42 years old.

The request, sent to lawmakers this week, would apply to all active duty branches of the military services, said Air Force Lt. Col. Ellen Krenke, a Pentagon spokeswoman, on Friday. But it is aimed chiefly at the active duty Army, which has fallen far short of recruiting goals this year, by adding millions of potential enlistees.

The Army has provided most of the 140,000 U.S. ground troops in Iraq and has also relied heavily on part-time soldiers from the National Guard and Reserve for year-long deployments there.

Hate is too strong a word, but freedom-hating fascists like yourself don't impress me much. Don't know why your even responding, though. Age was never your holdup. Just a lack of courage and commitment. A change in the law won't help you.

See Tex once again your resort to name calling. Does it help?

What was your holdup? Was it a lack of courage or commitment? Does your father serving in the military somehow make you a veteran?

TigerMike: Once again, you fail to recognize that I'm responding to someone who took a generic post and made it personal in one of the worst possible ways-- saying I hate America. Somehow you ignore that. There have been two unprovoked personal attacks on this thread so far-- Raptor's and your's.

Unprovoked or not, tell us please how you claim the high ground with this statement.

When and in what branch did you serve Tex? What was your holdup Tex?

I didn't ignore Raptors post. I merely responded to yours.

Once again, you fail to recognize that when you start slinging the flaming barbs and pointing fingers there are always four of your own fingers pointed right back at yourself.

Yeah, right. My post didn't occur in a vacuum. For some reason you want to take every opportunity lately to jump into to any exchange I have with someone else to come after me. It obviously gets you off, so knock yourself out. I really don't care to expand this nonsense past my initial response to Raptor so go crazy amongst yourselves.

Do you respond to absolutely every post in a thread? No you don't nor do any other people.

So get your panties out of a wad and don't be so sensitive.

I have not chosen to "jump into to any exchange I have with someone else to come after me."

Since you seem to be thin skinned and can not handle the truth, I will not respond to any of your post in the future.

If you develop an interest in the truth, maybe we can get somewhere. ;)

Do you honestly think you've tried to engage me in any meaningful discussion lately?

Guest Tigrinum Major

There was thread on here not too long ago about a visit Bobby Ross made to Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he met a 39 year old high school football coach from Alabama, who was going through basic training.

Nice to know that someone still feels that patriotic zeal...

This from the false logic of 'sign up or shut up' crowd . One need not be IN the military to suport the military. By your reasoning, only those who have ever played college football should be 'allowed' to cheer for a football team. That'd sure make the crowds at Jordan-Hare a good bit smaller on Game Day. We live in a free society with a military which currently volunteer. Whether I or anyone in my family chooses to join the armed services is none of your damn business. I'd not tell you how to live your life, what makes you think you have the right to try to guilt others into doing what YOU want them to do ? And speaking of which, per your comment ...

but freedom-hating fascists like yourself don't impress me much
in what respect am I a 'freedom-hating fascists' ??? I'm niether freedom-hating nor a fascists, so where you get off trying to call me either is a bit ridiculous. If you can cite any examples which support your claim, then offer tthem up here. Otherwise, I'd expect you to retract your insult. Do you even know what the definition of a 'fascists' is ?

And I merely asked a question, it wasn't such the 'personal attack' you dramatically try to portray. You, in contrast, made a direct charge directed toward me. One which was completely unfounded. I await your apology.

I learned a long time ago from a liberal friend, a very committed Liberal, that Libs like to think in stereotypes. It makes the thinking process so much shorter and easier for their little minds...

So they brand everything they dislike with a stereotype derogatory name: Nazi, Fascist, hatemonger, homophobe, extremist, fundamentalist, Neocon, etc.

Now I can state for the record that I believe that all those terms are in reality so over used it is scary. I doubt one on this board actually knows anyone that REALLY fits the real definition of these terms. But they help to exaggerate a point and to help those that really do not think about their political posistions to be able to generalize and smear someone who they think they disagree with at the same time.

In its latest form, if you do not agree with the latest talking points memos, thenyou should be criticized, smeared, etc. This leads to the one track Dem mentality that has such a narrow appeal that they are losing races even when the economy is not THAT great, and plenty disagree with the President on major issues. It leads to their umbrella being so small they cannot cover the center anymore. Voila' Dean is DNC Chair.

My liberal bud, ex-Navy, now a 'NO KIDDING' pre-op transexual wiccan married with baby girl, would name most on this board as extremists. He would also tell you that he is so open minded....brainfallsout.gif His brain often falls out of his/her head.

And yet the terms commie, pinko, socialist and Nazi derviations when aimed at Dems are used routinely without negative comment from most of the so-called "conservatives" on this board. And many of them claim those with whom they disagree hate America and the military, again with only agreement or no comment from many other so-called "conservatives" on this board. And you only see this as a problem for one side.

Generic post? Even the title you chose is starting out with an attack, on everyone between the ages of 35 and 42 that didn't run down to the recruiting office! You brought all of this on yourself when you typed in the first letter of the topic title; not to mention the attack on your Drudge lovin' cousin.

I see people that would like to discuss things as adults. But as soon as they question anything they are called/labeled by some name. You cannot listen to a tv/radio news broadcast without someone labeling the other.

If I was king for a day, I would put an ad back on the tv they played back in the 1970s that talked about stereotyping others. It referred stereotyping as a type of 'racism' that covered everybody. I deplore streeotyping of anyone, anything. Titan and myself have moderated many views of late. I am not shocked about it either. I have watched Hannity and Rush make what I know were idiotic statements to inflame their listeners. I know for a fact the Left MSM does it all the time.

I have grown to the point where I now no longer get riled up about everything not going my way. Like I said recently on this board, several times, I know I was voting more against Kerry than for Bush in the last election. I bet most would say the same things now too. Republicans do not want deficit spending. EVER! A reasonable DEMOCRATIC Partyman that knew that would say we ran the wrong candidate. They would look for a Moderate to Right person in the Party and get ready to run in 2008. But the Dems say we have the wrong electorate. That the electorate is too dumb to vote correctly, etc. Even if that was true, what are you going to do about it? Pull off a coup? Start a campaign asking "all you dumb butts out there, please vote Democratic?"

You see Tex, Dean and his ilk are the problem for the Dems just like Rush and some of his listeners are problems for us. But we need the votes the whackos bring to the table too.

I think stereotyping is wrong in all instances. I am not a dumb hick because I have an accent. I have a post grad degree too. But most that heard me speak in public woud dismisss me in a second. Is everyone that lives in SF a gay, perverted, S&M extremist? Is everyone in NE a cold, uncaring Liberal whacko? Is everybody living in FL a brain rotted bleached blond or a senile old fart? Is every :au: fan a country bumpkin? Is every :ua: fan a trailer park loser freak looking for something meaningful in his life? The answer is no!

I truly got sick over visiting BamaMag recently. I tried to inform these folks that :au: had a great link with NASA and with the Space Shuttle. I GOT BANNED for questioning their stereotypes.....

Think about it...Do we hold our stereotypes so dear thaty we should deny reality so we can perpetuate the lie?
