Meet Auburn's 2024 commits

Get to know Auburn's class as it currently stands.

Christian Clemente89 mins

Summer visit season is pretty well wrapped up — until Big Cat at the end of July — meaning it's commitment season. But before we get to that, it's time to take a quick look back at how we got here.

Currently sitting at eight commitments, Auburn is No. 36 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings. Auburn is No. 11 in the SEC, but is No. 5 in average recruit ranking at 90.75. The foundation of the class is in place, now it's time for Auburn to stock the cupboards some before the season starts.

Meet the current 2024 commits:

QB Walker White

247Sports ranking: No. 79 overall, No. 9 QB, No. 3 ARK

247Sports Composite ranking: No. 117 overall, No. 9 QB, No. 1 ARK

The prized jewel of Auburn's class early, Walker White was highly-coveted by Clemson and other top programs, but Hugh Freeze and Philip Montgomery managed to land him after just a few months on the job. Undoubtedly Auburn's top quarterback option, White fit exactly what the staff was looking for in an offensive scheme and in a culture fit.

Since joining the class, White has completely overtaken the leadership role and actively recruited for Auburn on social media, in texts and while on campus for visits. He's the leader Auburn was looking for at quarterback.

LB Joseph Phillips

247Sports ranking: No. 152 overall, No. 15 LB, No. 10 AL

247Sports Composite ranking: No. 126 overall, No. 10 LB, No. 8 AL

Auburn was the first to offer the Booker T. Washington (Ala.) linebacker last fall under Cadillac Williams and the interim staff and from there Joseph Phillips exploded on the scene. What looked like a potential easy commitment for Auburn turned into a blueblood battle between Auburn and Georgia, with Tennessee and Texas A&M also in the mix at the end. Georgia picked up all the momentum at the end of the spring and got him on campus for an official visit to start June, nearly landing his commitment.

But the versatile linebacker capable of playing inside or out ended up making his way down the street for a workout with Auburn's staff, who recognized the momentum switch and worked to get him on campus quickly. It paid off as he ended up joining Auburn's class shortly there after, marking a signature with for Hugh Freeze and Josh Aldridge.

RB J'Marion Burnette

247Sports ranking: No. 182 overall, No. 13 RB, No. 11 AL

247Sports Composite ranking: No. 216 overall, No. 16 RB, No. 14 AL

A big, physical running back nicknamed "Phat," J'Marion Burnette currently tips the scales around 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds. Wearing No. 2 for Andalusia (Ala.), he looks like a mini-Derrick Henry out on the field and is a hard tackle for high schoolers.

The SEC will obviously be different, but Burnette is a strong rotational back for Auburn capable of picking extra yardage and running between the tackles. The plan for Auburn is to take two running backs this class, with the "thunder" already committed and now looking for some lightning.

DB A'mon Lane

247Sports ranking: No. 217 overall, No. 17 CB, No. 13 AL

247Sports Composite ranking: No. 318 overall, No. 28 CB, No. 16 AL

A holdover from the last staff but his primary recruiter still being on staff in Zac Etheridge, A'Mon Lane was the first commitment for Auburn back at Big Cat Weekend last summer. Even with a staff change, Lane has stayed solid and even noted that he feels more comfortable now than he did previously, recently shutting down his recruitment and only planning to take an official visit to Auburn.

With great speed and playing physical for his size, Lane projects to play nickel at Auburn.

CB Jayden Lewis

247Sports ranking: No. 247 overall, No. 23 CB, No. 16 AL

247Sports Composite ranking: No. 358 overall, No. 32 CB, No. 19 AL

Another guy that Etheridge built a strong relationship, the new staff with the help of Freeze and Wesley McGriff helped seal the deal for Jayden Lewis to land in Auburn's class after visiting for Junior Day in January. Tennessee, Arkansas and others were in the mix, but Lewis had been leaning Auburn dating all the way back to last fall.

As for his position, that's still in flux. It could end up at cornerback with McGriff or back at safety with Etheridge. He has the potential to play at either spot. Lewis took his official visit to Auburn this summer.

Safety Kensley Faustin

247Sports ranking: No. 46 S, No. 66 FL

247Sports Composite ranking: No. 410 overall, No. 38 S, No. 61 FL

It only took one visit for Kensley Faustin to know that Auburn was where he wanted to be moving forward. The rangy defensive back was also involved with Florida State and UCF, but visited Auburn for an official and committed just two days afterward. The Composite 4-star is being recruited by Auburn mainly as a safety, but the staff is pitching him on the idea of playing early wherever he's needed.

TE Martavious Collins

247Sports ranking: No. 31 ATH, No. 40 GA

247Sports Composite ranking: No. 551 overall, No. 50 ATH, No. 66 GA

Former Alabama commit Martavious Collins found a home with Ben Aigamaua earlier this year, with the new Auburn staff recruiting him hard to join the 2024 class. Collins had been committed to Alabama for over half a year, but re-opened his recruitment in January just a few weeks after visiting Auburn and committed to Auburn after visiting again for A-Day.

Planning to take two tight ends this cycle, Collins is more of the traditional tight end capable of blocking or playing H-back while also catching some passes. He was back on campus this summer to do a private workout with Aigamaua and Auburn's staff.

WR Bryce Cain

247Sports ranking: No. 147 WR, No. 43 AL

247Sports Composite ranking: No. 703 overall, No. 93 WR, No. 32 AL

Already holding an offer from Auburn earlier this spring, Baker (Ala.) wide receiver Bryce Cain decided to camp at Auburn to try and solidify his spot in Auburn's 2024 class. He started the Elite Camp by running a 4.39 and a 4.44 and then was unstoppable in the one-on-one's. Down to Auburn and Ole Miss at that rate, Cain committed to Auburn on the spot and announced it a few days later.

Only playing football for a couple of years and growing up a baseball star, Cain has loads of potential as a speedy slot receiver with the proper development.
