The No. 25 Auburn Tigers had a successful week by sweeping the competition at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Mexico.

The Tigers rebounded from a disappointing opening weekend to win three games in three separate ways. Auburn won its first game of the week on Wednesday over Wichita State in eight innings, opened Thursday’s action with a 6-3 win over UC Davis, and ended the day with a literal walk-off victory over No. 13 Utah to earn its first win over a ranked opponent.

Several players made an impact on Auburn’s successful weekend, from a two-home run performance to a 10-strikeout outing. Here are the five players that stood out the most during Auburn’s time at the Puerto Vallarta College Classic.

Rose Roach recorded just one hit in Mexico, which was an RBI single in the top of the 2nd inning in Auburn’s extra-innings win over Wichita State on Wednesday.

However, her most important swing took place later in the game. In the 8th inning, she grounded out to the Shocker’s shortstop to score Axe Milanowski from third base to push Auburn ahead, 7-6. She also recorded a bases-loaded walk in the 4th inning, which added to her three-RBI game.

KK McCrary had another productive week at the plate for Auburn by recording three hits over three games in Mexico. In Thursday’s finale against No. 13 Utah, McCrary led the team in hits with two in the Tigers 1-0 win.

Nelia Peralta

Nelia Peralta recorded three hits in last week’s action, with Thursday’s game with UC Davis being her most productive. She went 2-for-4 in the Tigers’ 6-3 win over the Aggies. In Wednesday’s extra-inning win over Wichita State, Peralta recorded two RBI. She earned her first on a groundout in the 4th inning, and she scored the final run of the 8th inning on a single to score Skylar Elkins.

Amelia Lech

Maryland transfer Amelia Lech used her power yet again to make her way onto this list. Lech was responsible for all six for Auburn’s runs in the win over UC Davis on Thursday, scoring all runs with two swings of the bat.

She put Auburn on the board in the 1st inning with a two-out grand slam, and capped scoring in the 6th with a two-run blast. She now has four home runs on the season with nine RBI. She leads the team in both categories.

Maddie Penta

Right-hander Maddie Penta is this week’s top player after another great week in the circle. In two outings, Penta recorded 15 strikeouts, nine hits, four walks, and just one earned run in 13 1/3 innings.

In Auburn’s 8-6 win over Wichita State on Wednesday, Penta struck out 10 batters and allowed three hits in 6 1/3 innings of work.
