Fact check:  The KKK and Nathan Bedford Forrest.  He was the first Grand Wizard.

After the Civil War Forrest worked as a planter and railroad president, and served as the first grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. He died in 1877 at the age of 56.

Forrest was Democrat as they come.

I don’t think Trump is so much a racist as he is an opportunist. The kkk and the like, when mobilized, vote at over 95% turnout. This makes that nutty demographic have a much bigger impact than their actual size. Its just math.

Personally I don’t think Trump has strong opinions about anything/ anyone  beyond himself and winning. If racists can help enable that - ends justifies the means - he’ll hug them and  tell them whatever they want to hear, and support any policy that keeps their loyalty.

And yet, we have commemorations and celebrations of Nathan Bedford Forrest being put on by Christian Conservative groups and attended by Republican politicians.

A little interesting don't you think?

Yes, and it is also interesting is he was found guilty of theft of property and could face up to 20 years in jail.  The bad apples are being weeded out.

The sisters seem to act more Republican than the brother.  Dismukes is acting like a liberal looking as if he is a victim.  Even more interesting.

former MAGA Republican politician and ordained Southern Baptist minister is acting like a 'liberal'...who knew.

Anyway, doesn't seem like the judge listened to the sisters as Will got a slap on the wrist.

Its amazing what come out when your being held accountable for your mistakes.  Your true self comes out.  What do you think 5 years community corrections means.

He should go for it.

Forest Bedford is similar to Robert E Lee in that they are held in high regard by the Confederate fans of today as they were one of the few Confederate leaders who weren't all in on slavery/racism, and weren't just completely horrible people. While commendable, it Doesn't make them worthy of special honors or commendations

It's basically probation. Likely has a probation officer he reports to sometimes and has to pay a monthly restitution amount to the victim.

In addition to his ingenious cavalry tactics, Forrest is also remembered for his controversial involvement in the Battle of Fort Pillow in April 1864, when his troops massacred Black soldiers following a Union surrender.

I’m not sure that is exactly true.  He was a genius tactician during the war, though.

Which is just as bad, IMO.

I wish I had a nickle for every time I heard: "Well, I'm not racist, but......
