rexbo 104
Weekly Affirmation One can begin to connect the dots: the performance of Gene Chizik and his Texas defense in the Rose Bowl will answer a lot of questions about the quality of Texas' defensive coaching--not only this season, but in the past several years dating back to the beginning of the Mack Brown era in Austin. If Chizik--who lost to Matt Leinart in the young man's first college football game for USC (back in 2003, when USC defeated Auburn in Alabama)--can beat No. 11 in the decorated and much-improved senior's final game, he'll establish an enormous amount of street cred... for himself, for Brown, for the Texas program, and--last but not least--for Auburn fans who still believe that the Tigers would have triumphed over USC last year... if only given a chance. In the ultimate argument-settling football game, it's Gene Chizik and his defense who, for better or worse, will be the biggest argument settlers of all. BTW, mention of Chizik's first game against Leinart, he pretty much shut him down, his first drive was only 20 yards; it was the Auburn offense that was so pitiful in that game. PChamp119 96
I agree Leinart didn't do anything too impressive and that Auburn's offense was pitiful. But to correct you - yes he only got 20 yards on his first drive, but that's cuz that is all they needed to get in the endzone. Just making that clear.
