Bottomfeeder 244
Hey, I like Aerosmith. Anyway, it could be worse for Cheney, he could be an Alabama fan, LOL! The Soviet Union- A people’s paradise where the people were in control of their state - but we here in America knew better and we fought the Soviet system with everything we had because we could not endure a Soviet style system here in the United States.Since 1995 the Republican Party and its friends in the American corporate structures that so vigorously contribute to and support them have---in the space of a decade---created in this country more than the beginnings of a system that this country spent 50 years trying to dismantle. TrueBlue72 0
Actually, the slide began with the constitutional amendment that allowed our income to be taxed. It was the start of socialisim in this country and the first step toward the sort of utopian society that the Soviet Union embodied in principle. Ratified February 3, 1913. Note: Article I, section 9, of the Constitution was modified by amendment 16. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration. ---------------------------------------------- Yeah, this one pretty much sucks. Ironically, the same type of spin and crap put into this website, can also be found in propaganda movies produced by the third reich. At the bottom of this website they should have a disclaimer **This site is for entertainment use only, It takes two very unsimilar things and connects them using an allotment of random facts that don't pertain to the situation. Tiger in Spain 0
Liberal democrats are so concerned that someone "outed" an operative that wasn't covert, yet they care nothing about NSA security leaks and the effect that has on our national security. Proud Tiger 4,261
As long as Ted Kennedy is serving in the Senate, no one, especially a Democrat, should call for an investigation of a Republicah in public office. That is the height of hypocracy. Whittington isn't dead. Mary Jo Kopeckne is!!
quietfan 233
Regretably, hunting accidents happen. There's no more reason to make anything else out of the shooting itself than there was to make a big deal out of Kerry's or Bush's bicycle accidents. It is regretable that some one was hospitalized because of the hunting accident, but otherwise, nothing much to say about. The incident could/should have been old news by now, four days later. The media fallout due to Cheney's slowness in publicly discussing the accident is a different story. The story has legs because of Cheney's handling of the publicity surrounding it. Whether deserved or not, Cheney's delay in reporting it to the public, and as yet still unavailability to the press, is turning into it into a PR liability for the Administration. If nothing else, I would have expected him to show a little more political acumen in anticipating the publicity fallout from this and have handled it better. Instead, once again he has given the Adminstration a PR blackeye by reinforcing the impression of having little or no respect for the feelings of the American public. otterinbham 0
Here's an interesting twist on the income tax argument...Did you know that the 16th Amendment was never ratified? It was not passed by 2/3rds of all states at the time. However, because World War I was raging, it was implemented by default. http://www.taxableincome.net/articles/othe.../16thamend.html

LegalEagle 22
I thought one of the really telling things was that the Cheney camp insinuated that it was the victim's fault he was shot - claimed he failed to "announce" he was rejoining the group from the rear. If he had to "pepper" someone, too bad it wasn't Dan Quayle - wouldn't that have been ironic? (No harm to DQ intended.) Cheney is right up there with another famous Republican VP, Spiro T. Agnew - two peas in a pod.
