For the season, Auburn is averaging only 11.7 pts in the first half. In 2004 it was 17.2 and 17.5 in 2005.

With this in mind, here is AU's offensive production from their first 3 offensive possessions of games 1-11.

2004:

15 TD's

9 punts

4 turnovers

3 FG's

2 LOD

*54.5 scoring pct, 45.4 TD pct

2005:

15 TD's

11 punts

3 FG's

2 turnovers

1 missed FG

1 LOD

*54.5 scoring pct, 45.4 TD pct

2006:

13 punts

9 TD's

5 FG's

6 turnovers

*42.4 scoring pct, 27.3 TD pct

The killer is the 6 turnovers. Combine that with the new clock rules, I understand why Borges has been sort of impatient this year.

Stat, I don't know if there is any data to support it, but have the new clock rules affected the overall offensive numbers of ball control teams like Auburn, more negatively by percentage than passing teams like Texas Tech?

I don't have them in front of me but earlier in the week I was looking at the SEC season stats showing total offense and defense for each team. It looked like the numbers for Auburn and bama were dead even for both O and D.
