Giuliani's law firm lobbying in Texas for Venezuela-owned Citgo

HOUSTON Records show Rudolph Giuliani's law firm has gotten between 100-thousand and 200-thousand dollars since 2005 to lobby Texas legislators on behalf of Citgo Petroleum.

The Houston-based oil company ultimately is controlled by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Details are in records with the Texas Ethics Commission.

Sorry, am I missing something here ? What 'details' are we suppose to know about ?

Documents show that Shannon Ratliff the second, an attorney with Bracewell and Giuliani of Houston, has been registered to lobby the legislature for Citgo since April 2005.

But Citgo spokesman David McCollum says the company has had a lobbying contract with the law firm since the mid-1990s, when it was named Bracewell and Patterson

He's not getting my vote in the primary. If he runs against Hillary or Hussein Obama, then I'll hold my nose and vote for him.

I was going with Romney in the primary anyway.

So? Is that illegal ? Where's the issue ? If profits are to be made, then why not Giulliani's company ? You're leaving something out here. I don't know how much his company ' carries the water ' for Citgo. Do you?

You do know what "lobbying" means, don't you? Profiting off of Hugo to advance his agenda.

And is that illegal ? I'm sure Hugo has more than 1 agenda. Are the folks who work at Citgo here in the U.S. 'carrying his water' too?

I'm getting the impression that you don't care for Hugo too much. Am I wrong ?

I didn't know you were such a fan of Hugo's. The folks pumping gas and staffing the convenience store counter are probably doing well to pay their bills. The folks seeking legal/governmental favors/advantages-- the lobbyists-- are carrying the water.

I get the impression you're a big fan of lobbyists.

I don't have any lobbyist. None have ever done anything to me , for me,that I'm aware. I just don't see what all the fuss is about. I asked if there was anything illegal going on, and so far, you've not offered anything. Other than they're 'lobbyists'. Am I suppose to throw rocks at them ? What's the big deal ?

Hey, if you're a fan of lobbyists, Chavez and lobbyists for Chavez, that's okay with me.

Raptor, TT never said it was illegal. Just posting the facts about Giuliani's firm lobbying for Chavez. Last time I checked, you were totally against those big bad socialist dictators running around.

I'm not a fan of Hugo or Citgo. I refuse to buy gas there, but that's my choice. TT wants to vilify Rudy for that which isn't illegal. If it's not illegal, then why the persecution of Rudy ? Reading this thread, I was under the impression there was some wrong doing on the part of Giulliani's law firm. So far, TT hasn't posted anything, other than vague inuendo. I'm wondering if this has anything to do w/ the fact that Rudy beats Hillary in almost every poll, head to head.

Things that make me go hmmmmm.....

How am I not making sense ? Are you really that slow ? TT is scared that Rudy would beat his babe, Hillary, so he's trying the old smear campaign. Don't 'say' anything, just link Rudy to Hugo, and assume guilt by association.
