I didn't see this already mentioned, I apologize if I missed it.

For those in the Atlanta area, the annual Atlanta Auburn Club scholarship dinner is Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at the Renaissance Waverly next to the Cobb Galleria. This is off I-285 & I-75. CTT, Aubie, Nova, and the AU cheerleaders will be attending. Chuck Oliver (Auburn grad) from 790 The Zone will be attending, and Buck & Kincaid (double ugh) from 680 The Fan will be broadcasting their show from the hotel. See the website for more details.

I went to the scholarship dinner last night. It was a pretty good turnout and was SRO. I'm not sure of the count, but there were about 100 people standing around the sides and back of the room. Probably 500 or so total? Maybe more, not sure, I'm bad at estimating those types of things.

Kenny and David Irons, and Irons Sr. were there also. Kenny and David didn't speak as part of the prgoram, but they were walking around and talking to folks, signing autographs and doing pictures and the usual routine. I didn't get a chance to really speak to them much, but they both seemed nice enough and were very gracious and accomodating to everyone as far as I could tell. I got them both to sign a football.

The speakers seemed to go quicker than in past dinners such as this, including CTT. He did sign autograpsh for over an hour before the program started, and he ended up speaking for about 15 minutes and then took questions for another 15 minutes. I know this time of year is hectic for him with these type of events. He was in Jackson, MS yesterday morning/afternoon before coming to Atlanta, and he heads to Mobile today. He's probably just wore out.

He didn't provide any earth shattering news, but here are a few tidbits, none of which are probably "new" to most of us.

- If the season started today, Neil Caudle would be the backup.

- He didn't explicitly say it, but he indicated he's more concerned with the kicking game than the o-line or receivers. At least the o-line and receivers have some experience. I know losing the kicker, punter, kick-off specialist, and deep snapper worries me also.

- The return game with Kansas State will be played in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, not in Manhattan. I personally didn't know/remember that part.

- He said the LBOH has had an attitude adjustment and is doing fine.

- ESPN had a hand in putting together the WVU and Clemson series.

If I can think of anything else worth mentioning I'll post it. Like I said, no earth shattering news, but it was a good night. A good showing by Atlanta-area Auburn folks.

By the way, I had a chance to look briefly at the David Housel book on the history of AU football. It looked pretty sweet. I bid on the signed version in the silent auction but didn't win. I wouldv'e bought one, but I've got a birthday coming up and that book just made the list. It's worth everyone checking out.

Appreciate the report. I heard CTT's interview on 680.

I would like to know if the KOS can kick it in or near the goal line.

When is the KSU return trip? Like 2012 or something?

Of course Caudel is the backup today (Kodi hasn't had a chance to practice yet). That'll change soon. I have a good feeling about Kodi
