I have an idea. Why don't we pick our Presidents every 4 years via an American Idol type of show--where people who aspire to the office have to compete head to head every week and are voted off based on their performance. No commercials; no attack ads; just raw talent--at being able to communicate ideas and values of substance. Somewhere in all the contestants jockeying for a vote, there's bound to be a Paul Potts--or someone you least expect--who turns out to be exceptionally well-qualified to lead the free world; a diamond in the rough, who is not just a polished joker who says what everyone expects, and promises what no one can deliver.
