CALGARY — Damon Duval connected on a 33-yard field goal with no time remaining to give the Montreal Alouettes an improbable 28-27 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Sundays 97th Grey Cup game.

The field goal capped an 18-point fourth quarter as the Alouettes win for the just second time in seven Grey Cup appearances since 2000.

Duval had two attempts at the game-winning field goal. His first 43-yard attempt was wide but the Riders were penalized for having too many men on the field.

Duval then connected on the second opportunity.

Alouettes quarterback Anthony Cavillo connected on a fourth quarter touchdown pass to Ben Cahoon and running back Avon Cobourne rushed for a major.

Riders quarterback Darian Durant threw for a touchdown and rushed another in the fourth quarter.

Montreal rebounded in the third quarter with an eight-year touchdown pass to Jamel Richardson.

Saskatchewan's Luca Congi connected on a 23-yard field goal to give the Riders a 20-10 third-quarter lead.

The Roughriders took advantage of an ineffective Montreal offence, two turnovers and a successful challenge to grab a 17-3 half-time lead.

The Riders scored on an eight-yard pass to Fantuz. Congi hit on field goals of 40, 44 and nine yards. Kicker Louie Sakoda added a single.

Montreal's Damon Duval hit on a 28-yard field goal.

Saskatchewan's third field goal came after a successful challenge by head coach Ken Miller. Fantuz caught a pass on Calgary's two that was initially ruled incomplete without any time remaining on the clock.

A review overturned the call on the field and the Riders were awarded the ball with two seconds remaining. Congi hit on the field goal.

Montreal's offence struggled in the first half as the Riders forced and recovered two fumbles.

Saskatchewan's Marcus (Chunky) Adams forced the first fumble which was recovered by Keith Shologan. On the next play, Durant hit Fantuz for the TD pass.
