Guest AuNuma1
She gets 5 months in prison, 5 months probation and a $30k fine. I think it could've easily been worse for her as the judge gave her the bare minimum sentence. Her broker got the same thing. The most interesting thing I've read about the whole thing is that if Martha would not have sold the original stock then valued at $228k, it would've now been worth $315k. Doh! BamaGrad03 0
I dont think she deserved prison. If your dad works for say....Intel...and he calls you and says "son, i got laid off today...intel had to lay off half of their workers because AMD makes a better chip" And you held 20k worth of intel stock...would you sell it? Or hang on to it?
Guest AuNuma1
I don't know...I don't think the stock tip was the worst crime. Lying to the fed and giving them false documents was what got her and her broker in the most trouble, no?
